Academy Sports Caves to Pressure from Liberals, Pulls AR-15s

Academy Sports needs to show some backbone.

They’re a Texas family-owned company, I heard online that they were pulling ARs off the shelves under pressure from the Left, and I went to one in Arlington Texas to see for myself.

Yep, they pulled all their AR-15s from the display.

I talked to the manager, I was calm and polite, but I said, “You’re a Texas company. You have a responsibility to your customers, to Texas and to America. Show a little backbone. Don’t just cave at the first bit of pressure. I have six kids. I used to buy shoes and clothes here for my family. I’ll be shopping elsewhere. Please relay this message to those in charge.”

The manager said, “Well, we still sell ARs …”

Right.

DOJ Redacts References To ISIS In Orlando Shooting 911 Call

From Fox News:

“I pledge allegiance to [omitted] may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of [omitted],” Mateen told the dispatcher.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Ron Hopper defended the deletions.

“[Mateen] does not represent the religion of Islam, but a perverted view,” Hopper said, later adding: “Part of the redacting is meant to not give credence to individuals who have done terrorist attacks in the past. We’re not gonna propagate their violent rhetoric.”

NY Daily News Editor Claims PTSD From Firing AR-15

From NY Daily News:

Not in my hands. I’ve shot pistols before, but never something like an AR-15. Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

The only reason it was loud was most likely due to an indoor range. If it bruised his shoulder it was because he wasn’t holding in properly due to poor instruction or ignorance.

Judge Napolitano On Self Defense And Gun Rights

From Fox News:

More from the judge at Reason.com:

We know from reason, human nature, and history that the right to defend yourself is a natural instinct that is an extension of the right to self-preservation, which is itself derived from the right to live. Life is the great gift from the Creator, and we have a duty to exercise our freedoms to preserve life until its natural expiration. But the lives we strive to preserve should not be those actively engaged in killing innocent life.

Another Gun Ban Called For After Shooting

From The Federalist:

It happens like clock work: as soon as there’s a mere whisper of a terrorist attack or a mass shooting, the usual suspects kick in to high gear. Their destination is always the same: a faraway land where a so-called assault weapons ban magically eliminates not only guns but also prevents guns from walking of their own volition, without need of human agency, into crowded places and killing people.

Ninth Circuit: No Right To Concealed Carry

From The Wall Street Journal:

Americans have no Second Amendment right to carry concealed guns in public, a federal appeals court in California ruled on Thursday in a significant blow to gun-rights activists and gun owners in a large swath of the Western U.S.

The Ninth Circuit covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

Rape Survivor’s Story Saves Woman

From Hot Air:

Obama commended Corban for overcoming a horrific event in her life, adding that his executive actions don’t make it harder for her to purchase firearms, and proceeded to mansplain to her how owning guns could lead to the owner becoming a fatality—an awful thing to say to a survivor of sexual assault, but that’s for another time. Flash-forward to the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in May, Kristi McMains needed to meet Corban, as her story helped her save her life from a would-be robber that attempted to stab her.

UCLA Shooter Ignored Laws

From National Review:

As soon as the story hit the news, the usual suspects began cranking themselves up. Americans, they said, need to “do something.” It was time, they argued, for “more laws.” And the NRA? It was, of course, to blame. Forgive me for being a broken record, but I have some questions in response to these reactions: Namely, “what something?”; “which laws?”; and “what, specifically, did the NRA do wrong here?” Rolled into one, these congeal into a single, simple inquiry: “What law — specifically — would have prevented yesterday’s shooting?”

Illegals Smuggled In From Middle East

From The Washington Times:

Those smuggled included Palestinians, Pakistanis and the Afghan man who Homeland Security officials said had family ties to the Taliban and was “involved in a plot to conduct an attack in the U.S. and/or Canada.” He is in custody but the Times is withholding his name at the request of law enforcement to protect ongoing investigations.

“It’s disturbing, in so many ways,” said Joe Kasper, Mr. Hunter’s chief of staff. “The interdiction of this group validates once again that the southern border is wide open to more than people looking to enter the U.S. illegally strictly for purposes of looking for work, as the administration wants us to believe. What’s worse, federal databases weren’t even synched and Border Patrol had no idea who they were arresting and the group was not considered a problem because none of them were considered a priority under the president’s enforcement protocol. That’s a major problem on its own, and it calls for DHS to figure out the problem — and fast.”

Machine Guns On Trial

From Ammoland:

A panel for the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed a district court ruling and sided with the government against a man who was authorized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to manufacture a post-1986 machine gun through a trust, only to have the permission rescinded and his property confiscated. In doing so, and by ignoring founding intent behind the Second Amendment, the panel ruled the right of Americans to own militia-suitable firearms can not only be infringed, but that it’s not even a right.

NRA Member Self Defense Story

From Gun Mart Blog:

Riots had broken out when Al Parsons was attending summer school at Louisiana State University soon after the Gun Control Act of 1968 passed, and someone was beating on his apartment door at midnight.

Mr. Parsons, a 67-year-old retiree from Indiana, said he had recently asked his father to purchase a pistol for him – a buy he suspects would now be labeled an illegal “straw purchase.”

“So I picked up that gun and I walked to the front door, and I opened it, and I stick the pistol in the first one’s stomach,” said Mr. Parsons, the former CEO of the Insurance Federation of Minnesota. “I said, ‘Can I help you?’ There were three on one side, two on the other, and [he] said, ‘Oh, no, we must have the wrong place.’
