Anti-Rights Initiative Brings Lawsuits In Washington State

From Guns.com:

Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman certified the I-1639 “Gun Violence Prevention” ballot referendum for the November General Election after examining a random sample of 11,380 of the 378,085 signatures submitted by its sponsors. Wyman, a Republican, cautioned that “concerns remain” about the whether the format of the petition signature sheets complies with statutory requirements — as previously questioned by the gun rights groups — but said the initiative could move forward.

States And Cities Now Threatening Defense Distributed

From Guns.com:

In response to a threat by New Jersey state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer last Thursday warning DefDist of pending legal action should the company allow residents there state to download the controversial files, Wilson fired back Saturday with a lawsuit against the two, arguing they are violating First Amendment free speech protections.

In the 16-page filing, attorneys for DefDist hold that Grewal and Feuer “have waged an ideologically-fueled program of intimidation and harassment against” the company, intending to drag Wilson “before all manner of far-flung criminal and civil tribunals in an effort to silence the organization.”

What Could Have Been In Toronto Shooting

From FEE.org:

The shooting that took place in Toronto (Canada) on Sunday was, in one way, similar to the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Paris on January 7, 2015. In the latter case, people took smartphone videos of fleeing terrorists shooting at policemen and killing an unarmed one. In Toronto, there were several powerless witnesses, and at least one person, apparently from an apartment overlooking the scene, videoed the killer as he was firing from the sidewalk below. In both cases, if a video taker had had a pistol instead of a smartphone, he could have engaged the killer, at least slowing him down, and saved lives or prevented serious bodily injuries.

3D Printed Gun Threat Is Overblown

From Bearing Arms:

People have been able to make guns for years now. Hell, my first AK was built in a buddy’s backyard from a kit, back before the ATF decreed that barrels had to be destroyed prior to import. Was there a serial number on it? Sure, but only because I put one there.

For all the wailing and gnashing of teeth from anti-gunners, literally nothing changes. In fact, access to this technology may actually make people safer.

Gun Prohibitionists Will Never Be Satisfied

From Bearing Arms:

ANGER is mounting over laws which allowed a murderous Sydney dad to legally purchase two powerful handguns — one of which he used to kill his two children in a sickening home attack.

Almost 10,000 Australians have signed a petition which calls for a “full-scale” review of gun laws after the July 5 shooting in which John Edwards killed his children 15-year-old Jack and 13-year-old Jennifer in West Pennant Hills in the city’s west before returning to his home and killing himself.

From Guns.com:

Marion Hammer, 79, head of the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, the state’s NRA affiliate, filed suit against four men in a Tallahassee federal court on Friday, seeking damages stemming from harassment and threats from the men received in the days following the tragic shooting that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The 129-page lawsuit says that among the scores of profane remarks and graphic images Hammer has received over the past several months, urged by groups such as End the NRA, a few rose to the surface.

Ohio Bump Stock Ban Unconstitutional

Looking Back For Counter Insurgency Tactics

From SOFREP:

In the mid 1960’s and throughout the 1970’s, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) faced a boiling communist inspired insurgency that sought to overthrow the existing government that was led by the descendants of European settlers. The Rhodesian Bushwar would last over fifteen years, coming on the heels of the Malayan Emergency and the Vietnam Conflict. Faced with bureaucratic constraints and operational shortcomings, the Rhodesians were forced to maximize the potential of their meager resources by creating highly reliable small unit forces that could conduct raids and “pseudo-operations” against rebel forces. Among these units were the Rhodesian Light Infantry Commandos (RLI), the Rhodesian SAS and the Selous Scouts. Though modern circumstances have changed, the tactics of the Selous Scouts continue to be relevant and apply to the ongoing fight against ISIS and the Global War on Terror.

Defensive Gun Use vs Car Accidents

From FEE.org:

How is it that so many kids raised on “Harry Potter”, “The Hunger Games”, “Star Wars”, and all the Marvel action figure movies manage to miss a critical point of the stories? The lesson being: If you want to prevail over evil villains, you must have the proper tools to fight back.

Resisting Tyranny With The Second Amendment

From Vox:

The Second Amendment does not create a right of revolution against tyranny. That inherent right is universal. As stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948, “[I]t is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law.” The Universal Declaration was influenced by the Declaration of Independence, thanks in part to the US delegation led by Ambassador Eleanor Roosevelt (who carried her own handgun for protection).

NY Politician Won’t Admit Wanting Gun Ban

From Bearing Arms:

A Democratic congressional candidate in New York state said she supports a ban on some firearms, but admitted that she will never say so in public out of fear of losing the election.

“When I was at this thing today, it was the first table I was at, a woman said, ‘How do you feel about assault rifles?’ And I said they should be banned,” Tedra Cobb is heard telling a group of teens in a video posted Monday, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
