Reasons To Build Your Own Rifle

From The Truth About Guns:

1.  I made it. There are many like it and this one is mine. There’s a lot of pride involved in assembly followed by punching accurate, consistent holes at 100 yards. My little project also has never hiccupped after nearly 2,000 rounds through the thing. All of this stuff builds confidence and fluffs the ego.

7.62x40WT By Wilson Combat

Review of the new round from RifleShooter.com:

Enter the 7.62x40WT.  Based off the 7.62x40mm wildcat, the 7.62x40WT is based off 5.56x45mm parent case trimmed to 1.560″ and then re-sized to accept 30-caliber bullets.  With factory offering from 110-125 grains, this cartridge seems to be the perfect hunting upgrade for the AR enthusiast.  The only part of a 7.62x40WT rifle that is different from a standard .223 AR is the barrel.  That’s it.

Evolution of the 300 Blackout

From Small Arms Defense Journal:

The 300 Blackout cartridge fits in the standard AR magazine without any loss of the original 30 round capacity.  The standard bolt and barrel extension is used as well.  The only difference is the barrel itself.  This not only makes for easy logistical support for potential military use of the caliber, but you can pull spare parts from existing .223/5.56mm rifles.  The sample rifle has been tested with GI aluminum magazines, H&K high reliability mags, Lancer AWM and Magpul PMags.
