NY AG Targeting Accessory Manufacturers

From Ammoland:

New York Attorney General Letitia James has taken legal action against Mean Arms, a Georgia-based gun accessory manufacturer, for their alleged involvement in the illegal possession of assault weapons in New York. The lawsuit follows the tragic incident in Buffalo, where a shooter used Mean Arms’ magazine lock, known as the MA Lock, to replace magazines in his AR-15 and carried out a mass shooting that claimed the lives of 10 individuals.

Washington AG Now Harassing Gun Stores Via Lawfare

From The Truth About Guns:

Now we are learning that the Attorney General’s office is widening the scope of their investigation, not based on a documented, willful violation by a retailer, but rather scooping up all records and communications from wholesalers nationwide.

The latest target, Davidson’s, Inc, is an Arizona-based wholesaler that supplies retailers nationwide. The state, through its Consumer Investigative Demand (CID), has asked Davidson’s to supply all invoices, transfers, and communications of all matters with Washington-based firearms retailers going back to January 1, 2022. That’s is six months before the ban took effect and three months before the ban was even passed as law.

California AG Refuses To Defend Gun Control Law

From Bearing Arms:

California Attorney General Rob Bonta dropped a bit of a legal bombshell on Thursday night, filing a supplemental brief in federal court to declare that his office will not be defending a controversial new law that’s designed to make it nearly impossible for Second Amendment organizations and gun owners in the state to challenge any of the state’s gun control laws.

Montana AG Demands YouTube Put Gun Videos Back Up

From The Truth About Guns:

The letter was prompted by YouTube’s takedown of videos that gun dealer Jason Schaller had published showing how to complete a firearm including unserialized parts including an 80% lower. That activity, if you’re keeping score at home, is still perfectly legal in 45 states or so.

D.C. Attacks Polymer80 Kits

From Guns.com:

Describing popular hobby gun kit provider Polymer80 as “selling untraceable firearms” to area residents, Washington D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine is suing the company.

The complaint against the company this week in a D.C. Superior Court, argues that Polymer80 is selling “firearms” that violate the District’s gun laws, has failed to “disclose it is not licensed to sell firearms in the District,” and is falsely claiming its products are legal in the District. The legal action is asking the court to block the company from selling “illegal ghost guns” as well as to apply civil penalties, monetary relief, and legal costs.

Project Guardian Encourages More Vigilance With Current Gun Laws

From The Hill:

Project Guardian, introduced by Attorney General William Barr last month, is a multifaceted plan that will rely on improved information sharing to more effectively enforce current firearms laws and better prosecute the criminals who violate them. Primarily, Project Guardian places increased reporting standards on federal law enforcement to regularly share with state law enforcement the lists of persons rejected from buying a firearm under the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). More specifically, this memo directs the offices of all U.S Attorneys to more promptly submit to NICS case records of individuals who become legally ineligible to own firearms. This will greatly reduce the lag time between a court’s decision to determine an individual is disqualified from buying or possessing a firearm and the NICS database having knowledge of that determination.

AG Floats Expanded Background Checks

From Reason:

Both proposals share the same problems as any other effort to expand the reach of background checks. First, the categories of prohibited buyers are irrationally and unfairly broad, encompassing millions of people who have never shown any violent tendencies, including cannabis consumers, unauthorized U.S. residents, people who have been convicted of nonviolent felonies, and anyone who has ever undergone mandatory psychiatric treatment because he was deemed suicidal.
Second, background checks are not an effective way to prevent mass shootings, since the vast majority of people who commit those crimes do not have disqualifying criminal or psychiatric records. Third, background checks, even if they are notionally “universal,” can be easily evaded by ordinary criminals, who can obtain weapons through straw buyers or the black market. Fourth, voluntary compliance is apt to be the exception rather than the rule, and enforcement will be difficult, if not impossible.

ATF/FBI Still Have Questions To Answer About Waco

From The Hill:

Twenty-five years ago today, FBI tanks smashed into the ramshackle home of the Branch Davidians outside Waco, Texas. After the FBI collapsed much of the building atop the residents, a fire erupted and 76 corpses were dug out of the rubble. Unfortunately, the American political system and media have never faced the lessons from that tragic 1993 day.

Gun Sales Spike In Mass After Gun Ban Announcement

From WCVB:

The announcement prompted many gun dealers to head to their favorite shop to purchase a firearm. At the Four Seasons shop in Woburn, there was a line out the door. “We saw the email from Carl who said they wouldn’t be able to sell them after today,” Bruce Sterling said. “It seemed like it made a lot of sense to come and get an AR-15 today.”

Healey says the enforcement notice sent to gun sellers and manufacturers clarifies what constitutes a “copy” or “duplicate” weapon under the state’s assault weapons ban, including copies of the Colt AR-15 and the Kalashnikov AK-47.

New Gun Bill Is Gun Controlers’ Wet Dream

From The Federalist:

Unlike a standard criminal trial, in which a jury must decide beyond a reasonable doubt whether you have violated a criminal law, under this proposed law the government must only show a preponderance of evidence–evidence which will almost certainly be redacted–in order to strip you of your Second Amendment right to defend yourself and your family from terrorists:

In any case in which the Attorney General has denied the transfer of a firearm to a prospective transferee pursuant to section 922A of this title or has made a determination regarding a firearm permit applicant pursuant to section 922B of this title, an action challenging the determination may be brought against the United States. The petition shall be filed not later than 60 days after the petitioner has received actual notice of the Attorney General’s determination under section 922A or 922B of this title. The court shall sustain the Attorney General’s determination upon a showing by the United States by a preponderance of evidence that the Attorney General’s determination satisfied the requirements of section 922A or 922B, as the case may be. To make this showing, the United States may submit, and the court may rely upon, summaries or redacted versions of documents containing information the disclosure of which the Attorney General has determined would likely compromise national security.

Remember, you don’t have to be convicted of any crime whatsoever to end up on the terrorist watch list. You don’t even have to be charged with a crime to lose your constitutional rights under the proposed law. If this proposed legislation were to become law, some DHS bureaucrat–perhaps the type of bureaucrat who wrote earlier this year that “right-wing terrorists” pose the biggest threat to American national security–only needs to snap his fingers and add your name to the blacklist in order to immediately deprive you of your Second Amendment rights and your constitutional right to due process. You don’t even get to review the entirety of the evidence against you.

Fast and Furious Used as Excuse for More Gun Control

From Sharyl Attkisson:

Justification for New Gun Control Regulations

  • ATF’s internal Public Affairs Talking Points show the agency was using Fast and Furious to help justify new gun control regulations–without telling the public that ATF was actually facilitating the delivery of weapons to Mexican drug cartels.
  • The talking points (p. 15) state:

“These cases demonstrate the ongoing trafficking of firearms by Mexican DTO’s and other associated groups operating in Arizona and the need for reporting of multiple sales for certain types of rifles in order to ferret out those intent on providing firearms to these criminal groups.”
