Barrett Donates Rifles To Every Sheriff In Tenn.

From Barrett Firearms:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Barrett Firearms Donates Rifles to Every Tennessee County Sheriff Office or Department

(Sevierville, TN) At the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association Annual Conference & Exhibition today, Barrett Firearms President Chris Barrett, shown photographed with Robertson County Sheriff Bill Holt, announced that his company is donating 95 Barrett REC7 DI rifles, one to each Tennessee county sheriff’s office or department.

“When the Barrett story is told, folks usually talk about the civilian shooters and militaries around the world that have chosen Barrett long-range precision rifles for more than three decades. Less-often mentioned is my father’s background as a county sheriff’s deputy, our 5.56 carbines and rifles, and the countless law enforcement agencies that choose Barrett. We want to highlight that legacy and show our strong support for law enforcement by donating these Barrett REC7 DI rifles to the sheriffs in our state,” Mr. Barrett said during remarks at the conference.

“As lifelong Tennesseans and builders of the Barrett Model 82A1/M107, the ‘Official State Rifle of the State of Tennessee,’ we are proud to build every one of these rifles in Tennessee. We believe that the sheriffs can use these rifles as they enforce the laws around this great state.”

Barrett 30th Anniversary Rifle

Press Release From Barrett®

BARRETT THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY “ONE OF ONE” TRIBUTE RIFLE

(Murfreesboro, TN) A lifetime of accolades paves the way for Barrett’s thirtieth year in 2012. Currently, seventy-three allied governments have accepted Barrett Products, however, Barrett is best known for their flagship rifle, the Model 82A1 (.50 caliber) which was adopted by the U.S. Army as the M107.To celebrate their 30th year Barrett has crafted a one-of-a-kind rifle patterned after their new M107A1™ .50 caliber. The rifle glows deep silver from its completely nickel teflon coating. Barrett will announce their special plans for this tribute rifle later this year.
30thM107A1
The humble beginnings of Barrett are just as unique as their products. Ronnie Barrett, a twenty-seven-year-old making his living as a professional photographer, was inspired to make his own shoulder-fired .50 caliber rifle while photographing a gunboat for a client. With no engineering education, Ronnie Barrett hand-drew, what he believed would one day be a working firearm.
Being a longtime gun enthusiast and having a general understanding of how firearms worked was just enough to get things started. With help from a couple of friends with machining experience, this dream may have never left Ronnie’s gravel-floor garage.
In the past thirty years, Barrett has branched out and become known for not only firearms but also ammunition, optic accessories and training. Currently, U.S. and international commercial markets, Law Enforcement agencies and over 73 friendly governments have accepted Barrett products.
Barrett is still privately held by Ronnie and has been joined by his son, Chris, and daughter, Angela, who also play key roles in making sure the Barrett legend continues to grow.

Barrett REC7 PDW

Press Release From Barrett®

ANNOUNCING THE NEW REC7® PDW (PERSONAL DEFENSE WEAPON) IN 5.56 NATO AND 6.8 SPC

(Murfreesboro, TN) Barrett announces the newest configuration of the REC7 piston-operated rifle line; the 8-inch REC7 PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) is now available.

Our REC7 PDW was developed to meet the needs of military and law enforcement customers, and it has caught their attention by offering rifle-cartridge power and precision in a submachine gun-sized package. The REC7 PDW comes in 5.56 NATO or the 6.8 SPC cartridge, and it is available with either a mil-spec single-stage trigger or select-fire trigger group (agency/export only).

The REC7 PDW offers all the refinements of its full-size counterpart, such as the 9310 steel Barrett Enhanced Piston Bolt, which is proofed and magnetic-particle tested to ensure reliable performance. The anti-tilt bolt carrier with integral piston strike face is machined from 8620 steel. The gas block is chrome–lined, forward venting and has a fluted gas piston cylinder. This increases reliability by eliminating carbon buildup. Forward venting also keeps the operator’s hands clear of hot gasses.

REC7’s piston is made of 17-4 stainless steel and is the strongest on the market. The piston is easily accessed for cleaning without needing to remove the rail system. This enables optical sights or laser devices to maintain their zero after routine maintenance. The Barrett PDW piston system eliminates issues experienced by ultra-short rifles, increasing reliability with or without a suppressor. Designed for suppressed operations, the PDW has a two-position (suppressed/unsuppressed) nitride finished gas plug, which is easily manipulated with gloves. The REC7 PDW’s upper supports a free-floated, hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel that is proofed and magnetic particle tested for quality assurance.

Barrett is a family-owned and operated company specializing in high performance rifle systems and accessories. Barrett manufactures rifles, ammunition and optic accessories in addition to training for civilian sport shooters, law enforcement agencies, the US military and over 63 foreign allied militaries worldwide.
