TX State Rep Intros Bill To Repeal Castle Doctrine

From The Truth About Guns:

…a very worrying piece of legislation was introduced by Irving State Representative Terry Meza. HB 196 seeks to repeal the Castle Doctrine, preventing a homeowner from using firearms to defend their property.

Yes and no. The bill does strike “robbery, or aggravated robbery” from the list of things one can use deadly force against in Sections 9.32(a)(3)(B). But the use of deadly force — and not just with a firearm — to prevent the loss of “tangible, movable property” is left intact in Section 9.41.

SPLC Attacks Stand Your Ground Laws

From Ricochet:

The nonsense from the Southern Poverty Law Center continues. The SPLC, which doesn’t actually do poverty law because it’s too busy labeling everyone with insufficient melanin in their skin as racist, would like to turn back the clock on Stand Your Ground laws. In a new report, they claim with no real evidence or analysis, that the laws promote killings of blacks by whites. This is nonsense, and they know it. But it comes at the perfect time: with police running from constant assault and the rest of the country being told that only black lives matter. You almost have to admire their moxie.

Vigilance Is Key When Carrying

From The Truth About Guns:

Yesterday in Shreveport, Louisiana, a man returned to his home at 3:00pm and was met by two intruders who were attempting a burglary. Fortunately, the homeowner was carrying his gun at the time and was ready to be his own first responder.

The man drew his gun and shot both of the suspects, killing one and wounding the other. The deceased was a 40-year-old man who has not yet been identified. The other suspect, 47-year-old Martin Davenport, was charged with aggravated burglary and booked into Shreveport City Jail.
