Public Range Bill Passes House

From Guns.com:

A bipartisan measure to increase the number of shooting ranges available on public land passed the U.S. House on Monday. The bill, H.R.1222, was introduced in February by U.S. Reps. Ron Kind, D-Wisc. and Rob Bishop, R-Utah. The proposal proved uncontroversial and passed in a voice vote this week following on the heels of a similar vote in the Senate on an identical measure earlier this month.

MN Democrat Proposes Eliminating ATF

From The Gun Mag:

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel first reported the congressman’s proposal which came months after that newspaper did a scathing expose of an ATF storefront sting operation in three states, including Wisconsin that used at least one developmentally disabled person.

Sensenbrenner’s office said the bill is still being crafted. He also suggested that ATF functions could be absorbed by other agencies such as the FBI and US Marshals or DEA.

Senators Hint At Fillibuster On Gun Legislation

From Politico:

“We (Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee) will oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions,” the three conservatives wrote in a copy of the signed letter obtained by POLITICO.

White House responds in predictable fashion:

“A vote ought to be held on all these elements,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “It is what the victims of gun violence deserve. I don’t think you could tell the families of those who have lost their children to gun violence — that bills like this might be filibustered.”
