A gang member who was recently freed from jail killed his cousin and stole his car Monday then shot and killed a California police officer and wounded his partner before being wounded himself, authorities said.

From NBC LA:
More than 7,000 handguns, rifles and other weapons were destroyed Thursday as part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s 23rd annual Gun Melt event, authorities said.
Sheriff Jim McDonnell joined other law enforcement officials at the annual event Thursday morning at the Gerdau Steel Mill in Rancho Cucamonga, where more than 180,000 firearms have been destroyed over the past 23 years. This year’s event marked the largest gun melt since the program’s inception more than two decades ago, according to authorities.
With the Los Angeles Police Department planning to destroy 6.5 tons of ammo recovered, gun dealers are scrambling to save the more than 1,500 guns collected from a deceased California man.
Now, as police have determined they have more than 1,500 guns and nearly seven tons of munitions on hand, Braun is fielding unsolicited calls from gun dealers looking to move in on the Pacific Palisades man’s estate, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
From Breitbart News:
All vehicle and pedestrian traffic into and out of the airport has been limited. LAPD is doing a sweep of the arrival area of Terminal 3. One witness, Robert Perez, said that TSA agents shouted that a man had a gun in the terminal. “I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground,” Perez said. Another witness reported a dozen shots fired. A Federal Aviation Authority map already shows flight slowdowns thanks to the incident; the FAA was put on a ground hold.

The LA Times website has a chronicle of all their stories related to violence and drugs in Mexico.
“Fourteen-year-old Cheryl Green (pictured) was shot and killed December 16, 2006, near her home in LA.
The crime appears to be one of the many murders committed by hispanic gang members against random black citizens in a program of ethnic cleansing in the city. The trial of Cheryl Green’s accused killer has just begun.”
