To make sure that its new BR-4 Cutlass maritime rifle was truly water- and salt corrosion-proof, the staff at Battle Rifle Company submerged it in Galveston Bay, Texas–waters that production manager Karl Sorken once patrolled as a member of the Coast Guard.

SureFire To Show New Weapon Light At SHOT Show

From SureFire:

SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, will be launching its brand-new XC2 at the 2017 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The XC2 is the next evolution of SureFire’s game changing, ultra-compact pistol lights and builds upon the success of its predecessor, the XC1. It features the same impressive 200-lumen output as the XC1, but also has a 635nm highly visible red-laser. The addition of this laser in conjunction with its 200-lumen white light, makes the XC2 the ultimate compact accessory for concealed-carry. The XC2’s momentary and constant-on switches also feature improved ergonomics, further improving the weaponlight’s overall performance.

Now those who carry concealed not only have the capability to positively identify threats, but also improved low-light target acquisition and the ability to fire from non-standard shooting positions.

To see the XC2, and other brand-new products by SureFire, stop by the SureFire booth (#13968), located on the second level of the main hall of the Sands Expo Center during the 2017 NSSF SHOT Show, January 17 – 20.

Firearms Manufacturers Still on Edge

From National Review:

But there’s more to the industry’s concerns than the fear that the punch bowl might soon disappear, if indeed sales haven’t already peaked. And in spite of the boost Obama’s given their sales, many would rather have a president who was less obviously hostile to their industry and their livelihoods. Johanna Reeves, executive director of the F.A.I.R. Trade Group – the Firearms Import/Export Roundtable – expressed it this way: The Obama administration, and the ATF in particular, are “pushing the envelope and testing the boundaries to see how far they can go.”

The ATT and other U.N. programs play into this. As Reeves and a colleague put it in a recent piece on the treaty, their concern is that the “legitimate trade and industry will bear the brunt of ‘norms’ that will develop out of these instruments, norms that will further restrict the ability of U.S. firms to import and export firearms and ammunition.” Indeed, the worries stem fundamentally from the trade’s realization that the gun-control battle is moving from the national political level, where the Second Amendment has rarely looked healthier, to the international, national administrative, and state and local levels. In other words, the challenges are becoming more diffuse and harder to combat — or even, in the case of administrative restrictions, to follow.

Reed Exhibitions and NSSF Part Ways Over AR-15s

Reed Exhibitions refused to allow AR-15s at the Eastern Sports Show which took place shortly after the shooting at Sandy Hook. As a result of their actions the NSSF has dropped them as managers for the 2014 SHOT Show. This is an example of how boycotts can work to affect change.

Shot Show 2011 – New Registration Requirements

From: Shot Show Blog

Exhibitors at the 2011 show will have a much easier time identifying true “buyers” thanks to changes to the attendee-registration process.

Attendee badges will be more specific, enabling exhibitors to better identify various buyer categories.

This change is based on feedback from our exhibitors, who stated that the traditional red attendee badges used at the show do not clearly identify who from an organization is the decision-maker in buying.

Web-based registration will start out by asking if attendees are buyers or non-buyers. From there, the attendee will filter through the demographic questions that will assist us in determining the categories of people attending the show.

Past show attendees should be able to find their information in the system and should move through the process quickly. The identification and verification policy that was started at the 2010 show will continue for the 2011 show.
