8 Oregon Counties Pass Sanctuary Gun Laws

From The Washington Examiner:

The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Wednesday that the ordinances say that residents of those counties now have the right to own semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines, regardless of state or federal law.

NFA Trumps Kansas Law

From Guns.com:

The 10th U.S. Circuit upheld the past convictions of Shane Cox and Jeremy Kettler, who had previously been found guilty of violating federal laws concerning the manufacturing and selling of suppressors. While the men used a defense that they felt at the time that they committed their crime that Kansas state law insulated them from prosecution by the federal government, the court in their 48-page ruling did not concur.

Draconian Gun Laws

Reason.com reports on a man who was sentenced to 7 years in prison because of New Jersey’s gun laws and a judge who refused to allow critical evidence into the trial:

Aitken was sentenced in August after he was convicted of felony possession of a handgun. Before his arrest, Aitken, an entrepreneur and owner of a media consulting business, had no criminal record, and it appears he made a good-faith effort to comply with New Jersey’s stringent gun laws. Even the jurors who convicted him seem to have been looking for a reason to acquit him. But the judge gave them little choice. Aitken’s best hope now is executive clemency. He is petitioning New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for a reprieve this week.

Justice Dept. Sues Arizona Over Its Immigration Law

“The Justice Department filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Arizona to challenge a new state law intended to combat illegal immigration, arguing that it would undermine the federal government’s pursuit of terrorists, gang members and other criminal immigrants.”

Yeah, because the federal government is working really, really hard at pursuing criminal immigrants (maybe this is why they can’t be bothered with pursuing illegal immigrants –  they’re just way too busy pursuing criminal immigrants)
