Fundraiser For Women’s Group: DC Project

The DC Project will host a fundraising festival this weekend in Burnett, Texas to raise money for an upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. The group’s goal is to bring women from all 50 states to meet with legislators and personalize the Second Amendment.
The festival at the Reveille Peak Ranch will include live fire demos, a banquet, live and silent auctions and a 3-gun match. Celeb shooters will also make an appearance with Jerry Miculek, Tig Tiegen, Dianna and Ryan Muller, David Smith aka Shakey Dave, and more scheduled to shoot the match.

Women Flocking To Hunting

Women have become the fastest-growing hunting demographic in the U.S., and according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, it’s a trend that extends to the 49th state, too.

The department says increased interest led to new women-only hunter education classes.

“We’ve found over the years that women sometimes like a more safe environment where they can ask questions,” Ginamaria Smith, the program coordinator for the department’s hunter information and training program. “They don’t have to feel like they might be asking what they would term ‘stupid questions,’ even though they’re not.”

Issued CCW permits increased approximately 275 percent over a ten-year period, from 4.6 million permits in 2007 to over 17.25 permits in 2018, according to a study released Friday by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC). The number has been increasing year over year and is forecast to continue trending upwards.

First Female Infantry Marine

A 19-year-old female applicant had contracted into the Marines’ delayed entry program, selecting to enlist in the infantry, Jim Edwards, a spokesman for Marine Corps Recruiting Command, told Military.com.

The contract means that she will enter the 0300 community, with her specific military occupational specialty to be determined according to the needs of the Marine Corps at School of Infantry training in Camp Geiger, North Carolina, he said.

More Women Buying Guns And Participating In Shooting Sports

More than a third of the women who participated in the National Sports Shooting Foundation’s most recent survey identified as new gun owners. This data are consistent with those of other organizations, including the National Sporting Goods Association. According to the NSGA’s Annual Sports Participation Report, the number of women who practice target shooting increased nearly 36 percent (from 4.31 million to 5.86 million) between 2004 and 2014, while the number of women participating in hunting increased 23 percent (from 2.68 million to 3.3 million). In response to a request for comment, an NRA spokesman reported tracking a 77 percent increase between 2004 and 2011 in the number of women who own firearms.
