Marlin Introduces “Tactical” Lever Actions

If you’re a fan of modern lever guns you’re going to love the latest iteration of the Dark Series from Marlin Firearms. (See our review of the previous take on this gun here.) Since Ruger took over the Marlin brand they aren’t just churning out the same old Marlins that our dads and grandads had (although they are still doing the classics as well) but they’re continuing to evolve the line. The new Dark Series is launching with the big daddy of lever guns, the Model 1895 in .45-70.

Where the XLR brought longer ranges to the venerable .30-30 Win cartridge, the newest version of the 336, Marlin’s 336 Dark, combines brush-gun ballistics with modern optics and suppressor mounting hardware.
One of the most distinctive features of the Dark series is its furniture. Both the buttstock and fore stock are black, with a textured paint finish applied to them.
Freedom Group Names Scott Blackwell President
 Freedom Group, Inc. (FGI), which includes Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS, Marlin and others, has named Scott Blackwell as president. He had served as FGI’s chief sales and marketing officer since 2010. As president he will oversee all revenue, branding, marketing and communications for FGI.
