Florida College Suspends Student For Range Picture

From Bearing Arms:

The picture wasn’t actually threatening. It wasn’t the kind of pic I personally approve of, really. Muzzle discipline is a thing, after all, but she at least kept the booger-hook off the trigger, which puts her leaps and bounds over some. There was no menace to the picture unless you were actively trying to find it.
So, they suspended her.

Judge: Semi Auto Rifles Are The Same As M-16s

From Guns.com:

The order, in a case brought by several gun owners in 2017 seeking to declare California’s “assault weapon” ban unconstitutional, saw U.S. District Judge Josephine Staton side with the state’s point of view. Staton, extensively citing briefs in the case from anti-gun groups such as the Brady Center, Everytown and Giffords, found that semi-autos banned either by name or cosmetic features such as collapsible stocks or muzzle brakes were basically military-grade hardware.

Stolen Guns and Insurance

From The Truth About Guns:

She said had no firearm insurance at all. She wasn’t a NRA/GOA member and didn’t think that something like this would ever happen to her. She lived in a good neighborhood. She expected people not to break into cars in broad daylight in a city hall parking lot. Stolen firearms were always something that happened to other people.

Age Related Gun Laws Are Classist

From The Truth About Gun Control:

However, I want to focus on a different problem that’s not receiving enough attention, the insidious classism of age-based restrictions. Age-specific restrictions have a disparate impact on lower-income individuals and, by extension, on the marginalized communities that these lower-income individuals inhabit.

ARs Under $300

From The Truth About Guns:

The news here is the prices. The complete upper is selling for $179.99. The lower for $99.99. (They appear to be out of stock at the moment. At those prices, you can see why.) That puts a very serviceable AR-15 rifle in your safe for south of $300 before shipping.

Gun Controller Mayor Blames Indiana For Guns In Chicago

From Bearing Arms:

“The fact that you can cross the border, go into Indiana and purchase military-grade weapons at any number with no background check is a terrible thing, not only for a city but look at the devastation that gun violence is wreaking every single day in our community.”

California City With Most Carry Permits Has Least Homicides

From Bearing Arms:

New data out of California provides more evidence that the presence of legal gun owners and lawful gun carries doesn’t increase crime.  The Fresno Bee recently reported that Fresno County has the highest number of concealed carry licensees in the state, followed by Orange County.  If “more guns equals more crime”, then more people carrying guns should lead to more crime as well, and yet both Fresno and Orange County have lower homicide rates than Los Angeles County, home to more than 10-million residents but just 424 concealed carry licensees.

Will Small Shops Survive Illinois Gun Control?

From Bearing Arms:

A new gun control law aimed squarely at gun shops in the state of Illinois takes effect today. The Firearms Dealer License Certification Act requires all gun stores across the state to be licensed by the Illinois State Police as well as the federal government, and in order to get that state license firearm retailers have to navigate a maze of red tape and comply with onerous new restrictions. In some cases, gun shops are shutting down rather than try to meet the new requirements, and other stores are ditching gun and ammo sales completely.

A Gun Violence Solution

From Fox News:

The most disturbing part of this issue is there are good solutions available, but the mainstream media have no interest in them, as they require us to focus on the actual problem – the criminal element in our society and the mentally ill.
The mainstream media, instead, are waging a political war. They want to win power for their preferred political party. They have little interest in doing honest reporting on gang violence and how we can make inner city communities safer.

From The Truth About Guns:

LaShawn Ford has served as an Illinois State Representative since 2007.  Like his fellow Chicago Democrat General Assembly members, he has been a fairly consistent vote against gun rights since, well, forever.
But he recently appeared on radio station WLS-AM encouraging residents to arm themselves and get their carry licenses.
