Citizens Who Have Stopped Public Shooters

From Reason.com:

I had written about this in past years, but I thought I’d update it to reflect the El Paso incident from last week. According to the El Paso Police Department (see also CNN [Andy Rose]), a confrontation between two groups of teenagers at a mall “escalated into a physical fight” and then into a 16-year-old fatally shooting a member of the other group and seriously wounding another member, as well as injuring a member of his own group. Then,

As soon as the shooting ended, the 16-year-old suspect began to run and was pointing the gun towards the direction of bystanders, including 32-year-old Emanuel Duran, a Licensed to Carry Holder. As the suspect ran towards Duran and bystanders, Duran drew his handgun and shot the suspect.

Man Wants To Change No Gun Policy For Ride Share Apps After Child’s Murder

From Bearing Arms:

His daughter, 31-year-old Lauren Allen, was driving for Lyft when she was shot and killed in November. Dekalb County Police said Allen was dropping off a passenger on Cedar Croft Court when the passenger got into an argument with her boyfriend, and he fired his gun and hit Allen.

“They’re out there driving. They don’t have no protection at all, so we need to do something,” said Sawyer.

That’s why he wants to draft a proposal that allows rideshare drivers to carry a weapon.

VISA CEO Skeptical Of New Merchant Codes For Gun Stores

From Bearing Arms:

So if [Visa’s Chief Communications Officer] K.C. Kavanagh goes into a gun store and buys three thermoses and a tent, and you go in and buy a rifle and five rounds of ammunition, all I know is you both went to the same gun store. I know what gun store, I know when you went, and I know how much money you spent. But I don’t know what you bought.

I don’t think the code was necessary. But it doesn’t matter; the code is in place. It’s now an international standard and we adopt international standards.
