Surefire WristLight
SureFire 2211® Luminox® WristLight Boasts 300 Lumens with Integral Swiss Timepiece
Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire has expanded its revolutionary line of 2211 WristLights—a whole new category of hands-free illumination tools—with the release of its new SureFire 2211 Luminox whose output maxes out at 300 lumens! This new rechargeable WristLight features a high-performance LED focused by a special refractive optic as the original 2211 WristLight, but it also sports a high-quality timepiece from legendary Swiss watchmaker Luminox.
Created with input from law enforcement professionals, the 2211 Luminox’s light output is designed to automatically align downrange from a pistol held in a standard two-handed grip. This broad, powerful beam is ideal for identifying threats and blinding an aggressor’s night-adapted vision. The LED’s output can be set to 300 lumens with a simple press of either of its ambidextrous switches. There are also two useful lower-output settings of 60 and 15 lumens for tasks where less light and more runtime are called for, such as navigating outdoor trails or loading/unloading gear. These lower levels can be easily accessed by pressing both buttons simultaneously.
The classic Luminox watch of this new WristLight features a Swiss quartz movement, a unidirectional rotating bezel with timer markings, and self-illuminating tritium gas hands and markers that glow bright for easy reading in low-light conditions. Fully integrated into a lightweight but rugged aluminum body, the watch has a hardened, scratch-resistant mineral crystal that protects its face, and gasket sealing for waterproofing. The hard-anodized, gasket-sealed body—which also houses the LED, optic, pushbutton switching, USB charge port, and fuel gauge—is the size of a large sports watch, and it straps securely to the wrist via a comfortable rubber wristband with a stainless steel buckle.
The LED is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, while the Luminox watch is powered by a separate non-rechargeable lithium disk battery for continuous timekeeping even if the rechargeable battery is fully depleted. A built-in LED fuel gauge let’s you know when it’s time to charge the battery, which is easily accomplished via an included USB charging cable.

Army Forcing Early Retirement and “Involuntary Separation” On Soldiers

Pentagon sources said that as the Army moves deeper into a drawdown that could reduce the size of the active component by 74,000 soldiers over the next five years, the number of force-outs among officers and enlisted soldiers will increase beyond the levels seen so far.
The most recent cuts involved 1,188 captains and 550 majors of the Army Competitive Category.
Largest Flagpole In North America
Standing 400 feet tall, the new Acuity Insurance Flagpole is the tallest flagpole in North America (#tallestUSflag).  Located on theAcuity Insurance headquarters campus in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, along Interstate 43 between Milwaukee and Green Bay, the pole supports a 60-foot-wide by 120-foot-long American flag.  Located at the base of the flagpole is a brick paver patio featuring the names of Sheboygan County residents killed in active duty.

Possible Flaw in TOR Network

The Tor network, which allows for anonymous browsing on the internet, may have been cracked by researchers.

Tor believes this attack came from researchers at Carnegie Mellon’s Computer Emergency Response Team, not an identity thief (or, uh, the government). CERT researchers abruptly canceled a highly anticipated talk they were going to give about the possibility of deanonymizing Tor at the Black Hat conference this year, kicking off speculation that they’d successfully pulled it off.

The campaign exploited a previously unknown vulnerability in the Tor protocol to carry out two classes of attack that together may have been enough to uncloak people using Tor Hidden Services, an advisory published Wednesday warned. Tor officials said the characteristics of the attack resembled those discussed by a team of Carnegie Mellon University researchers who recentlycanceled a presentation at next week’s Black Hat security conference on a low-cost way to deanonymize Tor users. But the officials also speculated that an intelligence agency from a global adversary might have been able to capitalize on the exploit.
Maryland AG Misrepresents AR Rifles In Legal Brief

Lawyers for the state wrote in briefing papers that even if the ban does limit the Second Amendment right to bear arms, it is a reasonable measure designed to protect public safety.
“Assault weapons are a subclass of unreasonably dangerous firearms developed and adopted for their military effectiveness, with features appropriate for military and some law-enforcement purposes, but which are not commonly owned generally, or commonly used for self-defense,†wrote a team of lawyers in the Maryland Attorney General’s office.
