“JihadJane”: terrorists are looking for American recruits who can blend in

Colleen R. LaRose

“A Pennsylvania woman who called herself JihadJane was tied Tuesday to an alleged assassination plot against a Swedish cartoonist who depicted the prophet Muhammad atop the body of a dog.”

“Michael L. Levy, the United States attorney for Eastern Pennsylvania, said in a statement the case illustrated how terrorists were looking for American recruits who could blend in. “It shatters any lingering thought that we can spot a terrorist based on appearance,” he said.”

“Ms. LaRose is white, with blond hair and green eyes…”

Irish police arrested seven Muslims suspected of a plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist

Lars Vilks

“I’m not shaking with fear, exactly,” [Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks] told Swedish news agency TT, adding: “I have prepared in different ways and I have an axe here in case someone should manage to get in through the window.”

“Vilks has in the past dismissed the threats against him as “scare tactics” and, supported by the Swedish media, has insisted on the importance of publishing such material in defence of Sweden’s freedom of expression.”

UK Soldier Throws Back A Live Grenade

From the Helmand Blog

Rifleman McKie

Rifleman McKie sustained fragmentation injuries to his right arm and face as the grenade exploded mid air, close to where he stood.

Fragmentation also hit his Platoon Commander Captain Graeme Kerr who sustained injuries to his leg and who is recovering at Selly Oak Hospital in the UK.

“We were in a high position on a compound roof. There was no way you could throw yourself off and not get injured, so I made a decision to pick up the grenade and throw it off the roof. And I threw it quite deliberately. I tried to throw it properly, to clear the roof. I didn’t want to do it half arsed and have them throw it back at us or anything like that. I remember thinking that if I didn’t pull this off, it was going to hurt. But at that stage I was pretty much committed.

We release him from Gitmo, he goes to war against us: big surprise.

“A man freed from Guantanamo more than two years ago after he claimed he only wanted to go home and help his family is now a senior commander running Taliban resistance to the U.S.-led offensive in southern Afghanistan”

But, we were NICE to him! Are you saying that being nice does not work? Maybe we need to be MORE nice. Then they’d be really grateful and want to be our friends. *sarcasm*  Plus, he’s a religious guy, so he wouldn’t LIE would he? *additional sarcasm*

Second Amendment Jurisdiction

From Reason.com

Yesterday the Supreme Court considered the question of whether the Second Amendment applies outside of jurisdictions controlled by the federal government. The Court will almost certainly say yes, and soon it may consider a question that should be equally easy to answer: whether the Second Amendment applies outside of the home.

More on Starbucks Gun Policy

From: The Mercury News in Silicon Valley

Starbucks has brushed aside a request from a gun control advocacy group to ban the display of guns in its retail locations, saying it will abide by laws that allow patrons to openly carry unloaded weapons.

…The head of a local chapter of the Brady Campaign was disappointed by the response.

…The Brady Campaign has sent e-mails to its approximately 180,000 members nationwide suggesting that they e-mail Starbucks asking the coffee giant to create an anti-gun policy.

…”We definitely applaud Starbucks for allowing law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and we will continue to patronize them as long as they do,” said Brad Huffman, who is also a National Rifle Association-certified instructor and member of Bay Area Open Carry, which lists 610 members on its Facebook page.

Testing open carry laws at Starbucks

“Even in some “open carry” states, businesses are allowed to ban guns in their stores. And some have, creating political confrontations with gun owners. But Starbucks has refused to take the bait, saying in a statement this month that it follows state and local laws and has its own safety measures in its stores.”
