Marines Begin To Field M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle
From Military Times:
Commandant Gen. Jim Amos has approved the full fielding of the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle, a sleek, 5.56mm weapon that will become the new standard for automatic riflemen. There will be one IAR in virtually every four-man fire team, with three per squad, 28 per company and almost 4,476 across the Corps.
The IAR is a variant of Heckler and Koch’s HK416 assault rifle, which is popular with special operators and frequently used with suppressors. It weighs 9.2 pounds loaded, less than half the weight of SAW, made by FN Herstal. It has an adjustable butt stock and runs on standard 30-round magazines, although the Corps also is exploring the possibility of a high-capacity magazine that would carry between 50 and 100 rounds.

The Knoxx Recoil Stock Assessment has received mixed reviews (Nutnfancy hated it, others say they love it) here is another review of the stock, the review seems objective and helpful.
One option for addressing recoil that has gotten consistently positive reviews is the Remington Supercell recoil pad, which easily installs on the standard 870 stock. Check it out here:

Incoming DNC Head Wants All Gun Purchases Screened
From The Hill:
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said the current law, which allows private firearm sales without background checks, is “outrageous.” The Florida Democrat is sponsoring a soon-to-be-released proposal extending the screening requirements to all gun purchases, commercial or private.
This will only hurt the Democratic Party and the President if any kind of bill is introduced. Every time the Democrats propose something related to guns we all know that it is intended as a stepping stone to eventual disarmament of the American public. For those that have forgotten:
Second Amendment to the United States Constitution
“A well regulated militia, being necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” (emphasis added)
American Expats Fight For Their Rights
The Second Amendment Foundation is suing the Attorney General on behalf of Americans living abroad who, under federal law, are not able to purchase firearms when in the country.
The Second Amendment Foundation’s challenge to a federal law that prevents American citizens who reside outside the United States from purchasing firearms while they are in this country will be allowed to move forward, under a ruling today by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
“This is a significant ruling in our favor,†said SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. “Many American citizens face the same dilemma as Mr. Dearth. They are good citizens, they’ve committed no crimes, and they would certainly be allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights, except for the fact that they live in another country.â€
When a person wants to buy a firearm they must fill out federal form 4473 which asks for a state of residence. Expats have no state residence.
New M240L A Needed Update
The Army has developed a lighter version of the M240B using a titanium alloy. Future versions will include a shorter barrel and a collapsible stock. Read the full article at PEO Soldier.
