Seventh Circuit Says Banning Semi Autos Is Constitutional

From Ammoland:

Last week, a three-judge panel from the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Illinois law banning so-called “assault weapons” is Constitutional, which seems directly in opposition to the Heller and Bruen Supreme Court decisions. The Court combined several challenges to the Illinois law into a single hearing. Second Amendment advocates viewed the three-judge panel as practicing judicial advocacy. Several of the plaintiffs in the cases have now vowed to take the challenge to the Supreme Court of The United States (SCOTUS).

AP Produces 5 Part Anti Gun Series

From The Associated Press:

American identity is deeply grounded in the belief that everyone, no matter who they are, is entitled to certain rights and liberties. But what happens when one of those freedoms – a nearly unfettered right to own guns – upends the calculus that safeguards others?

Man Arrested In NYC For Defending Woman With Gun

From Bearing Arms:

New York police have identified and arrested the person they say drew a gun and fired two shots at a man trying to strong-arm rob a woman in a Manhattan subway station this week, and a judge has ordered the defendant to remain behind bars unless or until he can come up with $10,000 for bail.

43-year-old John Rote was arrested without incident at his workplace on Wednesday afternoon, and while his public defender attorney argued that he should be set free until trial, citing his lack of criminal history and long-time employment, the judge overseeing his initial court appearance declined her request.

Rahimi Case Argued At The Supreme Court

From Reason:

The government can disarm “dangerous individuals” without violating the Second Amendment, U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar told the Supreme Court on Tuesday. J. Matthew Wright, the lawyer arguing the other side of United States v. Rahimi, agreed with that general principle. But he did not agree that the federal law Prelogar was defending, which criminalizes gun possession by people who are subject to domestic violence restraining orders, fits within that tradition.

The Conspiracy To Use International Law To Attack Gun Rights

From Bearing Arms:

The parents of a student killed in the shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida have teamed up with Brady’s former chief litigator to file a “first-of-its-kind” complaint with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, alleging that “US gun policy violates basic human rights law” and deprived the Joaquin Oliver of his right to life.

In this case, Lowy and plaintiffs Manuel and Patricia Oliver, who founded the anti-gun group Change the Ref after their son was murdered, aren’t asking a U.S. court to rule that the Second Amendment is a violation of human rights. Instead, they’re taking their argument to an international body that has no real jurisdiction over the United States.

Flagstaff AZ Bans Ad For Shooting Range

From The Federalist:

The Flagstaff, Arizona City Council that barred a local shooting range owner from taking out ads in the city’s airport, as he’s done for years, is now plotting a policy proposal that could permanently ban the licensed federal firearms dealer from marketing his business to tourists.

“It’s especially frustrating for us because it’s not a Second Amendment issue, it’s strictly a First Amendment issue,” Timberline Firearms & Training Founder and Owner Rob Wilson told The Federalist.

People’s Politics Are Being Shattered By Reality

From Bearing Arms:

“To be honest with you, I hate guns,” Peter, 76, shouted over the sound of gunshots Saturday afternoon as his wife took aim at a target at Gun World in Deerfield Beach. “But it’s better us than someone else.”

The Jewish couple had arrived for their Intro to Handguns lesson with Florida Firearms Training about noon. Peter, who asked to keep his last name private for safety reasons, had shot a rifle decades ago; his wife had never shot a gun before. By the end of the day they would be returning home with one.

FBI Director Unintentionally Gives Reason For Citizens To Be Armed

From Ammoland:

No doubt unintentionally, FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday provided the greatest justification for the Second Amendment when he testified before the Senate Homeland Security Committee that “the ongoing war in the Middle East has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the United States to a whole other level.”

According to Fox News, Wray told the committee, “We also cannot and do not discount the possibility that Hamas or another foreign terrorist organization may exploit the current conflict to conduct attacks here on our own soil.”

Gun Banners Have An Emotional Hatred of Freedom

From Bearing Arms:

The real fetishization is with banning guns, not owning them. Rifles are used in just a small fraction of violent crimes, and less than half of all active shooting incidents, yet an “assault weapons” ban remains the Unholy Grail of the gun control lobby. We know that banning drugs hasn’t eradicated overdose deaths any more than banning alcohol a century ago ended drinking. Handgun bans in Washington, D.C. and Chicago failed to reduce violent crime, and in fact homicide and violent crime in general are lower in those cities now than when their bans were in effect. So why are anti-gunners like Bouie and Hogg so adamantly convinced that it’ll somehow be different if we ban so-called assault weapons?

Confiscation Is Their Goal

From Bearing Arms:

While Joe Biden repeated his demand for Congress to pass a ban on so-called assault weapons on Thursday morning in response to the mass murder of 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, Vice President (and head of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention) Kamala Harris upped the ante in a speech on Thursday afternoon at a luncheon for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, where she lavished praise on Australia’s compensated confiscation, launched in 1997 after an active shooter attack in Port Arthur, Tasmania.
