Post Office Gun Case Is A Watershed Moment
From Open Source Defense:
Post offices are the tip of the iceberg.
Gun control in the US dates to a unique period that began in 1934 and ended in 1994. That time was characterized by a steady ratcheting down of federal gun laws every ~30 years (in 1934, 1968, and 1994) and then a final flurry of state-level assault weapons bans from 1989 (after the Stockton shooting in California) to 1994. Until Delaware, Illinois, and Washington passed AWBs in 2022-2023, it was the case that every state with an AWB created its AWB in that 1989-1994 period.
NZ Crime Boss Says They Will Keep Their Guns
From New Zealand Herald:
“Will gangs get rid of their weapons? No. Because of who we are, we can’t guarantee our own safety,” he told Stuff.
He admitted many of the gang’s estimated 1000 associates hold illegal firearms but says they should be trusted not to harm innocent people.
“It’s not in our culture to inflict harm on innocent people like what happened in Christchurch,” Fatu said.
CO Legislator Has No Idea How Firearms Work
This is an unbelievable case of the blind leading the blind. The people who want to ban firearms don’t understand the very basic functions.
From Reason.com:
Colorado Boycotted By Hunters
From The Washington Times:
“There’s a united front of sportsmen that are tired of having their freedoms and liberties and fundamental rights taken away from them,†said Northwest Colorado hunting guide Chris Jurney in the CBS report. “That kind of unity among sportsmen is going to be big, and unfortunately for those of us who live here, we’re going to suffer the consequences of this misguided legislation.â€
An executive for the Outdoor Channel, Michael Bane, says he’s not filming the show’s four productions in the state any longer, CBS says. And hunters have started canceling their trips to the state, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Maryland Gun Law: Unconstitutional
Another gun law bites the dust, this time in Maryland. The same lawyer who won the Heller case and the case in Chicago is behind the challenge to the Maryland law.
“A citizen may not be required to offer a ‘good and substantial reason’ why he should be permitted to exercise his rights,†Legg wrote. “The right’s existence is all the reason he needs.â€
That’s why we call them “rights”.
