Gun Restrictions Begin In Brazil As Communist President Takes Power
From Ammoland:
“Brazil’s Supreme Court on Wednesday banned registered gun-owners from carrying firearms in the federal district until after the inauguration of President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in reaction to recent episodes of political violence,” Reuters reported Wednesday. “Justice Alexandre de Moraes temporarily suspended licenses that permit hunters, marksmen and collectors to carry guns, firearms and ammunition in the region where the capital city of Brasilia is located.”
Taxpayer Funded PBS Pushes Disarmament Propaganda
From Bearing Arms:
On Friday’s Amanpour & Co., fill-in host Sara Sidner devoted a segment to promoting the agenda of a gun control advocate and made no serious effort to challenge her liberal guest’s claims.
Texas Legislature Holds Firm And Refuses To Pass Gun Restrictions
From Bearing Arms:
The Texas Senate Special Committee to Protect All Texans, formed in the wake of the murders at Robb Elementary in Uvalde earlier this year, has released its recommended changes to state law in the hopes of preventing future attacks, but Democrats and gun control activists are already criticizing the plan for its lack of new restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms.
While the committee report does lay out a substantial number of changes to the state’s education, mental health, law enforcement and criminal justice systems, the lone recommendation regarding gun laws is a state-level law banning “straw purchases”; a criminal offense federally, but not one defined by state statute.
Canadian Government Gets Trolled With Gun Ban
From The Truth About Guns:
A Florida gun designer was shocked to discover his primitive single-shot gag gun landed on the Canadian government’s list of firearms to ban in the country.
“Butt Master” designer and sole owner Mark Serbu commented on the creation’s “absurd” inclusion in Canada’s controversial legislation to curb gun violence Thursday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Mass Shooting In Gun Banned Australia
From The Truth About Guns:
Despite that massive gun confiscation of almost all firearms, not just “weapons of mass murder,” six people were shot to death, including two young police officers in a stand-off Monday evening.
Minorities Worried Oregon Gun Restriction Will Handicap Their Ability To Buy Firearms
From OPB.org:
But Measure 114 lacks criteria clearly defining what disqualifies applicants, details on what makes someone a threat and what data can be used by law enforcement in making that decision. That’s a problem for activists who have critiqued law enforcement, particularly in the racial justice protests that took place over the past two years.
“I just feel like if I was to go online and say like the police are terrorists or something … [the police] would be like, ‘Well, you seem like you might not be fit for this community to be armed,’ ” says Mia Rose, a trans person of color and former licensed firearms dealer. “If they were to get that information that you got snatched up off the street [arrested during the Portland protests prompted by the killing of George Floyd in 2020], I would assume that the law would say they could deny your purchase, or deny your right to have a permit.”
If only the gun rights groups had warned the people about possible government overreach.
Trudeau Goes Full Tyrant After Texas Shooting
From Bearing Arms:
Citing the murders in Uvalde, Texas, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his plan to “freeze” handgun sales and require existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to hand them over to the government in a compensated confiscation scheme that would take place before the end of the year.
Ukrainian Politician Wants To Expand Gun Rights
From The Washington Times:
Months before the Russian invasion, Mr. Zablotskyy took on his country’s civilian gun-control system that was inherited from the former Soviet Union when he introduced a bill to allow private ownership of firearms.
“I tried to convince parliament. I was the sponsor of the bill that allowed the ownership of private firearms within Ukraine. Unfortunately, that bill has failed. And, largely, of course, due to the Russian lobby,” he told The Washington Times. “Now we, of course, understand why. I think that now there’s overwhelming support for the right of Ukrainians to bear arms.”
The Real World Demonstration of Why Gun Rights Are Human Rights
From The Federalist:
The world is captivated by Ukraine’s resistance to Russian invasion, especially since much of Ukraine’s resistance comes from ordinary citizens taking up arms in defense of their homeland.
Ukraine has a fighting chance in part because it has taken dramatic steps to provide its people firearms. More than 25,000 automatic rifles and 10 million rounds of ammunition have been distributed to volunteers in Kyiv.
Amnesty International Says Self Defense Isn’t A Human Right
From Reason:
Back in the days when I was a monthly donor to AI, the group was known for its work in supporting political prisoners around the world. But for a long time AI has involved itself in many other issues, including global gun prohibition. Today, the leading international anti-gun organization is Control Arms, which was cofounded in 2003 by Amnesty International, Oxfam, and the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA).
Almost Half of Seattle Police Could Be Fired Over Vax Mandate
From NY Post:
The city is poised to fire as many as 403 officers, about 40 percent of the 1,000-person force, for failing to take the COVID-19 jab by an Oct. 18 deadline, according to local reports.
“The environment has been pretty toxic and negative,†an unnamed officer told Fox 13 News. “Not just from this whole mandate, but prior to that as well. I’m not sure this would be a good place for me to work long-term for my mental health. It has been very stressful.â€
Professor Tries To Denigrate “Molon Labe” Slogan Used By Gun Rights Activists
From The Daily Beast:
Amid the banners, flags and emblems displayed at the Jan. 6 insurrection, it was strange, especially for a classicist like myself, to see some in ancient Greek. The phrase molon labe, “come and take [them]â€â€”a phrase attributed to King Leonidas of Sparta, in reply to demands he lay down his arms—was on full display there, as it has often been elsewhere, including on the face masks of Marjorie Taylor Greene. Dozens of products—T-shirts, decals, epaulets, bumper stickers, tattoo templates, and, oddly enough, noise-canceling headphones—now bear the slogan.
Australian Government Tells Unvaccinated They Will Lose Their Rights
From The Blaze:
Government leaders in the state of New South Wales — where the bureaucracy just a month ago announced that it was giving vaccinated citizens a “reward” of one extra hour outside their homes for recreation time — announced during a Monday press briefing that unvaccinated folks “will lose their freedoms” in October, Sky News reported.
CNN Uses China To Defend Gun Control
From CNN:
“When my friend told me about the shooting, I thought it was the United States,” one person wrote on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Another user wrote, “Using a gun to kill people in China? Am I watching an American movie?”
That disbelief widely reflects how rare gun crime is in China — in contrast to it being a daily reality in the US.
The difference is stark when it comes to public safety. Despite being the world’s most populous country, with 1.4 billion residents, China only records a few dozen gun crimes a year. And more broadly, violent crime has continued falling, reaching its lowest level in 20 years in 2020, according to state-run news outlet Xinhua.
An Armed Populace Prevents Tyranny
From The Federalist:
Contrary to Biden’s claim that Americans would not be able to protect their liberty without F-15s and nuclear weapons, it is still true today, as Alexander Hamilton wrote in “The Federalist Papers,†No. 29, that the Army “can never be formidable to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens little if at all inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow citizens.â€
