Illinois Mayor No Longer Supports Mayors Against Illegal Guns

From Rockford Register Star:

“Any doubt that I might have had in my opinions about concealed carry when I first came into office changed quickly as I became an elected official and became very familiar with the types of crimes we’re dealing with,” Morrissey said. “The focus should not be against law-abiding citizens.”

Illinois Is Beating the Gun Ban Drum

Guns.com reports that Illinois governor Quinn wants to ban AR-15s and high cap mags. He is of course using the shooting in Colorado to push his ideology and will no doubt use the recent shooting in Wisconsin as well.

As reported by the Associated Press, the proposal would specifically ban the AK-47, AR-15 and TEC-9.  And in a way, it would be confiscatory.  In other words, if one couldn’t prove they had purchased the firearm prior to the ban, then he/she would face punitive consequences.

Illinois College Holding Utah Concealed Carry Classes

From Guns.com:

That might sound odd, but it actually makes quite a bit of sense. Utah concealed carry permits are recognized in 31 states, so a permit carrier can cross most state lines without too much concern for variable state gun laws. It’s a bit ironic considering that Illinois is the only state that doesn’t permit concealed carry, but where there’s a will there’s a way. Illinois citizens can still prepare for trips abroad into concealed carry-friendly states.
