Gun Sales Spike In Mass After Gun Ban Announcement
Posted by Brian in Law, News, Threat Watch on 21/Jul/2016 13:32
From WCVB:
The announcement prompted many gun dealers to head to their favorite shop to purchase a firearm. At the Four Seasons shop in Woburn, there was a line out the door. “We saw the email from Carl who said they wouldn’t be able to sell them after today,” Bruce Sterling said. “It seemed like it made a lot of sense to come and get an AR-15 today.”
Healey says the enforcement notice sent to gun sellers and manufacturers clarifies what constitutes a “copy” or “duplicate” weapon under the state’s assault weapons ban, including copies of the Colt AR-15 and the Kalashnikov AK-47.
Mass. Attorney General Steps Up Gun Control
From WAMC:
In the wake of recent shootings across the nation, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey on Wednesday announced a crackdown on illegal sales of assault weapons. The Democrat says her office has sent notices and offered direction to the 350 gun dealers in the state about weapons she says gun manufacturers alter and market as Massachusetts compliant.
Machine Guns Stolen From MA Army Armory
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 22/Nov/2015 07:00
From Boston Herald:
The FBI confirms tonight “some weapons†are missing after a burglary at the Lincoln W. Stoddard U.S. Army Reserve Center in Worcester last night, but the agency insisted there is “no indication” of terrorism.
“The FBI is aware that some weapons are missing as a result of the break in at the Army Reserve Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. We have entered those weapons into NCIC, a national database, and alerted our federal, state and local law enforcement partners,†said Kristen Setera, spokeswoman for Boston Special Agent-in-Charge Harold H. Shaw.
Where are the lawmakers calling for the military and local law enforcement to be held accountable for lost/stolen weapons?
“Common Sense” Regulations in Massachusetts

Massachusetts can pass all these (reasonable) impediments to purchasing a gun but when Texas requires a photo ID to vote that means the sky is falling.
Massachusettes: Arrested and Cleared, Lose Your Gun Rights
From National Review Online:
More than a year after the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., a panel of academic experts today released a long-awaited report recommending that Massachusetts tighten its gun laws, which are already considered among the toughest in the country.
It also said Massachusetts should require anyone wanting to purchase a hunting rifle or a shotgun to pass those standards of suitability. That could allow local police chiefs to deny gun purchases to people who have been arrested, but not convicted, of a crime.
Student in Mass. Arrested For Possession of Two 30rd Magazines
From gunsnfreedom.com:
Jad Ali Mokad, a 24-year-old senior at UMass, was only 3 months away from graduating when he was arrested for possession of 2 30-round rifle magazines. He was arrested simply for owning the magazines. He had not hurt anyone and the police had saw no indications that he planned to, by the way.   But not only did the police have a very sketchy reason for searching his home, but upon making the arrest the department decided to brag about it on their Facebook page.
Massachusetts School Bans Pledge of Allegiance
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 19/Jul/2010 19:29
There’s something seriously wrong with the system of education in this country where flags are frowned upon and the Pledge of Allegiance is flat out banned! If you can’t pledge allegiance to your country (not the politicians), what are you doing here?
A school in Massachusetts (go figure), has banned the Pledge of Allegiance in the classroom. And until Senior Sean Harrington complained, the classes didn’t even have flags in them. He fought hard to get flags in the classroom and the Pledge of Allegiance reinstated. He won on the flags, but the pledge was forbidden.
The principal responsible for this travesty is Charles Skidmore, principal of Arlington High School in Arlington, Mass.
Ironically, the Pledge of Allegiance started as a public school celebration. It was introduced in 1892 and has been changed four times since its inception. And yet, these days we find educators increasing unwilling to ask students to be loyal to their own country. One of the most heartbreaking parts of a FoxNews article on the subject said this:
The Arlington, Mass., school committee has rejected the 17-year-old’s request to allow students to voluntarily recite the Pledge of Allegiance, because some educators are concerned that it would be hard to find teachers willing to recite it, according to a report in the Arlington Patch.
