Remington, Khar and ATI Bail on New York

All three gun companies are in the process of leaving New York state because of the “SAFE Act” and taking their tax dollars with them.

The Washington Free Beacon has the story:

“It is a law forced on rural New Yorkers by a liberal elite who opposes the principles of the U.S. Constitution,” Hempel said by email. “The majority of the state wants a hands-off, non-intrusive government, which does not interfere with their right to bear arms or crush business with harmful regulation.”

D.C. Gun Case in Limbo for Four Years

From World Net Daily:

“We realize this is a difficult step to take,” said Alan Gottlieb, executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, “but this case has been languishing for 1,475 days and counting since it was ready for decision.”

He pointed to a previous case litigated by his organization, Moore v. Madigan, which challenged the carry ban in Illinois. The trial court took 172 days to rule, he noted, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals took 202 days.

Federal Gov’t Adds Armed Guards to Schools

From Guns.com:

Although many, including President Obama, criticized the singular idea of armed guards in schools as a preventative measure because of its simplicity, the Obama administration is now moving forward with the idea.

The Justice Department announced Friday afternoon that under the Community Oriented Policing Services about $45 million would be used this year to put 356 additional armed guards in schools across the country, CNN reported, for a total of $125 million in grants to be dispersed over the next three years.

Student in Mass. Arrested For Possession of Two 30rd Magazines

From gunsnfreedom.com:

Jad Ali Mokad, a 24-year-old senior at UMass, was only 3 months away from graduating when he was arrested for possession of 2 30-round rifle magazines.  He was arrested simply for owning the magazines.  He had not hurt anyone and the police had saw no indications that he planned to, by the way.    But not only did the police have a very sketchy reason for searching his home, but upon making the arrest the department decided to brag about it on their Facebook page.

The Guardian: U.N. Should Intervene in U.S. Because of Gun Violence

Henry Porter at The Guardian has just put fuel on the fire for all the conspiracy nuts who believe that the U.N. will eventually take over the United States under a New World Order:

But what if we no longer thought of this as just a problem for America and, instead, viewed it as an international humanitarian crisis – a quasi civil war, if you like, that calls for outside intervention? As citizens of the world, perhaps we should demand an end to the unimaginable suffering of victims and their families – the maiming and killing of children – just as America does in every new civil conflict around the globe.

I know this part of his article is a bit sarcastic, but the reason the United States has never been invaded is precisely because almost everyone in this country is armed or knows someone who is armed. The military is not the enemy’s only obstacle for invasion.

Emily Miller on Starbucks and Guns

From The Washington Times:

To be fair, Starbucks got dragged into this debate and never wanted to take a stand either way on the laws on the right to bear arms. Both the pro- and anti-Second Amendment groups have used the popular chain as a front line in the battle over gun control.
