2nd Amendment Absolutist, Brandon Herrera Goes To Runoff In TX-23

From Bearing Arms:

We highlighted the GOP primary in TX-23 on Tuesday as one of the most interesting races to watch on Super Tuesday, and it did indeed produce a major upset. Incumbent Rep. Tony Gonzales is could still win the nomination, but after failing to reach the 50 percent threshold in the primary he’s now heading for a runoff against Brandon “The AK Guy” Herrera, who came in a solid second in the five-candidate field.

Bill Introduced Would De-fang NFA, Increase Gun Rights

From Guns.com:

The newly announced Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today, or SHORT Act, introduced by U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) in the Senate and U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) in the House, will remove the taxation, registration, and regulation in the NFA of firearms such as Short Barreled Rifles, Short-Barreled Shotguns, and Any Other Weapons. The sponsors argue it is past time for this reform and, in doing so, halt the Biden Administration’s pretending that people who own pistols with stabilizing braces in most cases possess illegal short-barreled rifles.

Redcoats In Congress Want Gun Ban

From The Hill:

The bill, sponsored by Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), would prohibit the sale, transfer, import and manufacture of hundreds of models of semi-automatic weapons that boast certain specific features, including those that combine pistol grips with detachable magazines. The ban would not apply to people who already own such weapons.

Those firearms rank among the most popular in the country, and opponents of the ban — including all but a handful of Republicans — say it would trample on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.

Bipartisan Support Gaining For Expanded Background Checks

From Ocala.com:

Manchin, a moderate Democrat, is an NRA member who aired a 2010 campaign ad in which he literally shot a hole through Democratic environmental legislation that he pledged to oppose.

Also involved is Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., another NRA member with a strong conservative record but occasional maverick impulses; No. 3 Senate Democratic leader Charles Schumer of New York, a liberal; and moderate GOP Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois.

Amendment That Prohibits Sale of Weapons to Egypt Rejected by Senate

Human Events reports on Rand Paul’s amendment in the Senate. Paul said this when it did not pass:

I think it is a blunder of the first proportion to send sophisticated weapons to a country that allowed a mob to attack our embassy and to burn our flag.
