Regulations Encourage Corruption Especially With Guns
From Zero Hedge:
Apple’s Thomas Moyer, 50, was named along with Santa Clara County Undersheriff Rick Sung and Captain James Jensen in a scheme to trade CCW licenses for 200 iPads worth close to $70,000. The deal was called off after Sung and Moyer learned that the District Attorney’s office had executed a search warrant at the Sheriff’s Office, seizing all CCW license records.
LA To Pay NRA $150,000
From The Truth About Guns:
The City of Los Angles tried to penalize any contractor with ties to the NRA. The city eventually repealed it and now the city has been ordered to pay the NRA’s legal fees totaling about $150,000.
California AG Sues ATF Over 80% Firearms
From Courthouse News:
Shearer, who is co-counsel in the lawsuit, said state gun laws have been undermined by the ATF’s refusal to treat the parts used to build homemade guns as firearms. This allows “unscrupulous†DIY firearm sellers to flood the gun market.
“The ATF has specifically exempted them from the federal definition of a firearm, meaning federal gun laws don’t apply to them. As a result, people can order and build these guns without passing background check or even verifying their age,†she said. “This has opened the biggest loophole you can imagine in our federal and state gun laws.â€
Armed Equality Group Disagrees With California Mag Ban
From The Truth About Guns:
Not every LGBT group agrees. One of which, California-based Armed Equality, filed its own brief in the case asking the court to let the ruling stand so that all armed individuals — regardless of orientation or gender — will have at their disposal all of the tools that are best suited to defend themselves and their families.
What’s more, Armed Equality has a few choice words for the three groups that are working so hard to keep LGBT people disarmed and vulnerable to the attacks they say are so often directed their way. Here’s Armed Equality’s open letter, originally published on their Facebook page and reprinted here with permission:
9th Circuit Declares Mag Ban Unconstitutional
From Sacramento CBS:
“Even well-intentioned laws must pass constitutional muster,†appellate Judge Kenneth Lee wrote for the panel’s majority. California’s ban on magazines holding more than 10 bullets “strikes at the core of the Second Amendment – the right to armed self-defense.â€
Ingenuity Beats Laws Every Time
From The Truth About Guns:
For those who want all of the ergonomics, magazine capacity, ease of use, and affordability of shooting the AR-15 pattern rifle — and still remain compliant with California’s laws — the Kali Key is a solid alternative.
In essence, the Kali Key turns the semi-automatic AR-15 into a bolt action rifle. After installing the Kali Key, the rifle will only fire a single round with each trigger pull, and then requires the shooter manually operate the charging handle in order to eject and chamber the next round.
California Gun Control See-Saw
From Guns.com:
The U.S. 9th Circuit, on prompting from California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office, late Friday stayed U.S. Senior District Judge Roger Benitez’s Thursday order enjoining the State of California from enforcing both the ammunition sales background check and the ammunition anti-importation provisions of Prop. 63.
