Ex-Intel Agent: Hezbollah Terrorists Within Miles of US Border
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Threat Watch on 17/Jul/2011 15:58
By Martin Gould
“Hezbollah terrorists have set up a home base just across the Mexican border from San Diego, a former senior intelligence agent has claimed. The group presents a bigger threat to the United States than al-Qaida but so far appears to be lying low, making money from drug-running operations, San Diego’s Channel 10 News reports. www.10news.com/news/27780427/detail.html
“They are recognized by many experts as the ‘A’ team of Muslim terrorist organizations,” the unidentified agent is quoted as saying.
Hezbollah members have blended into Shiite communities in Mexican cities for years but the group has pushed north and now has a base in Tijuana, which is just over the border from the United States 25 miles from San Diego, the former agent said. It partners with drug cartels which pay for its security expertise.
Tunnels that have been built under the border show a level of sophistication that is consistent with Hezbollah’s work in the Middle East, he said.
The agent believes it is unlikely that Hezbollah will start attacking the United States from Mexico in the near future. “The money they are sending back to Lebanon is too important right now to jeopardize those operations.
“But if they really wanted to start blowing stuff up, they could.â€
He described Hezbollah as more dangerous than al-Qaida “because of strategic thinking; they think more long term.†Al-Qaida members, he said, “are more shooters than thinkers.â€

Alabama’s new immigration bill
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Law, News, Threat Watch on 7/Jul/2011 16:35
“The tough new bill includes strict provisions that go even farther than the controversial Arizona law that sparked national debate last year
Alabama’s legislature has passed a hard-hitting bill that would make it a state crime to be an undocumented immigrant. Inspired by Arizona’s controversial law, the Alabama bill would make cops ask for proof of legal residence from anyone they think might be in the U.S. illegally, with the person jailed until their status is verified.
It would also penalize anyone who hires, shelters, rents to, or gives a ride to illegal immigrants, and bars illegal immigrants from public universities.

SCOTUS upholds Arizona immigrant hiring law
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Law, News on 26/May/2011 17:45
“The Supreme Court ruled Thursday to uphold Arizona’s law that penalizes companies that knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
In a 5-3 vote, the court concluded that federal immigration law doesn’t prevent the state from revoking the business licenses of companies that violate state law.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the majority opinion that the court had come to its decision because “the state’s licensing provisions fall squarely within the federal statute’s savings clause and that the Arizona regulation does not otherwise conflict with federal law.â€

U.S. Border Patrol to its agents: stop arresting illegal aliens to “keep illegal immigration numbers down”.
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Law, News, Threat Watch on 10/May/2011 18:53
“The U.S. Border Patrol has told its agents to stop arresting illegal aliens crossing the border from Mexico to keep the illegal immigration numbers down, Arizona Sheriff Larry Dever tells Newsmax.
He also charges that Attorney General Eric Holder is “holding hands with the ACLU†to protect illegal aliens from prosecution, says illegals are committing “heinous crimes†across America every day, and calls claims that the federal government should be solely responsible for controlling illegal immigration “balderdash.â€
Dever is sheriff of Cochise County, which shares an 83-mile border with Mexico, and he says his Border Patrol sector is responsible for half of all illegal aliens caught trying to enter the country and halt the narcotics entering the United States.”
Smugglers Guide Illegal Immigrants With Cellphones
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Threat Watch on 9/May/2011 22:17
NOGALES, Ariz. — “A group of migrants was hustling north through the southern Arizona desert the other night when one of their cellphones vibrated with a text message. “Watch out,†it warned. “Things are hot up ahead. Take cover in the bushes.â€
Some border crossers are getting help from smugglers who track patrols from afar and send texts on how to avoid them.
The message, signaling the presence of the Border Patrol, was sent by a smuggler watching the group’s progress through binoculars from a hillside on the Mexican side of the border, members of the group said later. It was part of what border officials and immigrant activists say is an emerging trend in illegal border crossing — the use of what is being called the cybercoyote.
“I’ve crossed eight times, and this is the first time they’ve directed me with my cellphone,†said Sandra Silva, 30, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, who was on her way to Phoenix. “It’s like a guide through the desert.â€

Arizona Sheriff: “Don’t drink the Kool-Aid and buy into this ‘border is secure’ nonsense.”
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Threat Watch on 9/May/2011 18:50
“For the secretary of homeland security to say the border is more secure than ever, well, I’ve been there forever and there was a happier time than what it is today. We have a long, long way to go.
“Don’t drink the Kool-Aid and buy into this ‘border is secure’ nonsense.
“There’s a bad element in the mix of the aliens that are crossing that border and they don’t stay there, they move into communities throughout the country. And every day there are travesties and heinous crimes being committed by those people. If we don’t stop it at the border, it’s just going to continue to grow.â€
[Arizona Sheriff Larry] Dever recently told Congress that in one district in Texas, illegals are allowed to be caught crossing the border 14 times before being charged with a felony, and federal smuggling charges are not considered unless at least six illegal aliens are being smuggled into the country.”
How far have Mexican drug cartels moved into the US? Arizona Sheriff Larry Dever responds
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Threat Watch on 7/May/2011 18:16
Dever: Mexican drug cartels are freely operating many miles from the U.S.-Mexican border.
“You can go up to 70 miles north in Pinal County, which isn’t even a border county, and the Bureau of Land Management put up signs on public land warning people not to travel there because of the threat from drug cartels.
“If you travel into the recreational areas in my county, those same signs are up warning people they could encounter drug and human smuggling. I think we ought to point the signs south and tell the folks who are coming here that this is not a safe place for you to come.â€
He also explains how he has heard that the Border Patrol has told officers to stop arresting Mexican illegals to keep official illegal immigration figures down.
“That comes from agents on the ground, who have told me, told my deputies, told citizens in the area. They have in the past been instructed to scare people back or turn them back south versus arresting them.â€
Arizona governor vs. Phoenix Suns owner:
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Law, News, Opinion, Threat Watch on 8/Nov/2010 23:01
“The owner of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, Robert Sarver, opposes AZ’s new immigration laws.
Arizona’s Governor, Jan Brewer, released the following statement in response to Sarver’s criticism of the new law:
“What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying?
What if they had a good idea who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn’t be ejected.
Furthermore, what if Suns’ ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink?
And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?”

On average, between 125 and 150 minors are received monthly by DIF after being expelled by US authorities.

Victims of illegal alien crime: Deputy Frank Fabiano, Jr. shot to death
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Threat Watch on 3/Oct/2010 23:19
“A decorated Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot to death during a routine traffic stop by an illegal alien with four prior arrests in four different states.
Local law enforcement is “doing the job the federal government just won’t do†by being the first line of defense against illegal alien crime in America. Unfortunately, these brave officers are often the casualties of the violent, unidentified foreign nationals residing in American communities across the United States.”

DREAM act: illegal alien student bailout
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 17/Sep/2010 21:45
by Michelle Malkin
“The so-called DREAM Act would create an official path to Democratic voter registration for an estimated two million college-age illegal aliens. Look past the public relations-savvy stories of “undocumented” valedictorians left out in the cold.
This is not about protecting “children.” It’s about preserving electoral power through cap-and-gown amnesty.
Open-borders lawmakers have tried and failed to pass the DREAM Act through regular channels for the past decade. That’s because informed voters know giving green cards to illegal alien students undermines the rule of law, creates more illegal immigration incentives and grants preferential treatment to illegal alien students over law-abiding native and naturalized American students struggling to get an education in tough economic times.

Witch Hunt in Arizona?
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Threat Watch on 2/Sep/2010 19:10
PHOENIX – The Justice Department sued the nation’s self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff” on Thursday, calling Joe Arpaio’s defiance of an investigation into his office’s alleged discrimination against Hispanics “unprecedented.”
It’s the first time in decades a lawman has refused to cooperate in one of the agency’s probes, the department said.
“I think they know we have not been racial profiling, so what’s the next step — camouflage the situation, go the courts, and make it look like I’m not cooperating,” Arpaio said Thursday.
Arpaio said he provided “hundreds of thousands” of reports but hasn’t turned over others because the department’s request was too broad.
Arizona Republican Sen. Russell Pearce, author of the new Arizona law, called the Justice Department’s actions against Arpaio a “witch hunt.”
“This is the game that’s played,” he said. “They couldn’t find any violations … that’s why they’re very vague about what they want. It doesn’t take a very high IQ to figure out what’s going on with these folks.”
Arrizona Poll: 81% approved of requiring people to produce documents to prove they’re legally in US.
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Opinion, Threat Watch on 1/Sep/2010 23:18
“PHOENIX — A poll released Wednesday found that an overwhelming majority of Arizona voters support the types of provisions that are at the heart of a national debate involving the state’s immigration law.
The survey conducted on behalf of Arizona State University’s Morrison Institute for Public Policy found 81 percent of registered voters approved of requiring people to produce documents that show they’re in the country legally.
It found that 74 percent believe police should be allowed to detain anyone who’s unable to verify their legal immigration status, and 68 percent say police should be allowed to question anyone suspected of being in the country illegally.”
