Mayor Adds Gun Control To Coronavirus Bill

From The Daily Caller:

Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen’s declaration of emergency came on Friday and is related to the coronavirus, which has caused many states to declare emergencies as the virus continues to spread. The mayor’s executive order gives Frank Feinen “extraordinary powers,” including the ban of the sale of firearms and ammunition, among others restrictions including a ban on the sale of alcohol, and the sale or giving away of gasoline or other liquid flammable or combustible products, according to Edgar County Watchdogs, a local government accountability nonprofit.

Government Contracts As Gun Control

From NRA-ILA:

That was certainly the case this week when Toledo’s Democrat mayor, Wade Kapszukiewicz, announced he would use the City’s firearm and ammunition procurement process to pressure vendors into adopting practices not required by law to restrict “civilian” access to their products. “I’m not saying this is going to eradicate the problem in our nation or even avoid a tragedy in my own city, but just because we can’t do everything doesn’t mean we can do nothing,” he told The Huffington Post, which falsely reported the policy is “the first of its kind in the U.S.”

Small-town mayor stoned to death in western Mexico

“MORELIA, Mexico (AP) – A small-town mayor and an aide were found stoned to death Monday in a drug-plagued western state, the fifth city leader to be slain in Mexico since mid-August.

Michoacan state Attorney General Jesus Montejano said the bodies of Tancitaro Mayor Gustavo Sanchez and city adviser Rafael Equihua were discovered in a pickup truck abandoned on a dirt road near the city of Uruapan.

Montejano’s spokesman, Jonathan Arredondo, said initially that the victims were hacked to death with a machete, but the attorney general said they were killed with stones.”

Another Mexican Mayor killed by Drug Cartel Gunmen

Mayor Alexander Lopez Garcia

“The San Luis Potosi state government said in a statement, citing witness testimony, that four hooded assailants burst into the town hall in the municipality of El Naranjo at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Two of the gunmen made their way to the offices of Alexander Lopez Garcia, the 35-year-old mayor, and opened fire, the statement said.

The slain mayor had been in office since October 2009, while the area where El Naranjo is located – a highland town of some 20,000 inhabitants – has seen much of the violence affecting San Luis Potosi, blamed on turf battles between rival drug gangs.”
