Second Amendment Headed To Supremes In 2017

From Breitbart.com:

For the first time in U.S. history, a federal appeals court on Friday struck down a federal gun-control law for violating the Second Amendment, meaning that next year the Supreme Court will hear a case that includes the opportunity to abolish citizens’ right to bear arms by overruling the Court’s famous Heller precedent.

That means the Obama administration’s solicitor general will now petition the U.S. Supreme Court to grant certiorari to review this case. Under these rare circumstances, it is virtually 100 percent certain that the justices will grant review and hear the case.

Why Carry A Revolver?

From USA Carry:

Beginner friendly

Revolvers are great for first-time gun owners because they are simple to operate. For Double Action Only (DAO) revolvers, there is nothing to mess up once it’s loaded. Simply point to the target and fire. For SA/DA revolvers, there is the simplicity of DAO action with the option of single action tight shooting.

Citizens Take Control Of Neighborhood When Police Won’t

From Sacramento Bee:

Asian residents of south Sacramento say they’ve formed their own armed patrols to respond to a wave of robberies that has terrorized the community, where business owners report a steep drop in customers because people are afraid to go out after dark.

Some Chinese community leaders have formed a task force to combat the issue themselves, frustrated by the slow response from civic leaders. The volunteers have launched armed patrols in south Sacramento and respond to calls for assistance from those using WeChat, a popular social media app that originated in China.

“There’s no difference between night and day,” he said of the requests for assistance. “We need to take security into our own hands. If not, who will protect us?”

This is why everyone should have the choice to defend themselves how they see fit. The police will not always be there and have no legal duty to protect anyone.

Gun Crime On The Rise In Australia?

From The Age:

The facts are chilling and compelling. In as little as five years, gun crimes have more than doubled. Some very dangerous people are involved; in 2015 alone, more than 750 people with serious criminal convictions were caught carrying guns. That’s up a staggering five times since 2011. Shootings have literally become a weekly event. Crimes related to firearm possession have more than doubled in the past five years. The number of young criminals has rocketed; almost 1500 people aged between 20 and 34 committed a gun offence last year, more than twice the number five years ago. A culture of carrying, and using, guns is becoming worryingly entrenched in criminal circles.

Pink Pistols Chapters Increase

From LA Times:

Interest in the Pink Pistols has increased since the Orlando attack, with new chapters springing up across the country, including the West Hollywood chapter and another one in North Hollywood. There was such an outpouring of support from firearms trainers, many of them straight, that the Pink Pistols’ website now has a map listing LGBT-friendly firearms instructors in every state.

A fifth of the 5,462 single-bias hate crimes reported to the FBI in 2014, the most recent year for which data are available, were because of the victim’s sexual orientation or identity as a transgender or gender non-conforming person. That was higher than the number of religiously motivated hate crimes and surpassed only by racially motivated hate crimes. And, experts say, the number is disproportionate because of the relatively small size of the LGBT community.

Campus Carry Costs Were Exagerated

From Guns.com:

In an agency fiscal note from the UT system to lawmakers, the school estimated a cost of $39,327,319 over six years to implement the practice, including an outlay of nearly $10 million the first year. Most of this was associated with adding another 52 full time security employees and expanding surveillance camera networks.

Now, budget information from about 40 colleges and universities across the Lone Star State shows that combined cost to implement the new law that took effect last month was just $955,000, typically spent on signage, The Dallas Morning News reported.

TX Campus Carry Allowed

From Dallas Morning News:

An effort by three University of Texas at Austin professors to block the implementation of the state’s divisive campus carry law has failed, after a federal judge on Monday denied their request for a preliminary injunction.

Texas Attorney General’s response to the ruling:

“I am pleased, but not surprised, that the court denied the request to block Texas’ campus carry law.  There is no legal justification to deny licensed, law-abiding citizens on campus the same measure of personal protection they are entitled to elsewhere in Texas.  The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed for all Americans, including students, and I will always stand ready to protect that right.”

Wyoming Has Highest Gun Ownership

From Breitbart.com:

All those guns, yet the state’s gun-related murder rate is below the national average. And this is why Steward is fine with Wyoming’s per capita dominance on gun ownership. He views the armed citizenry as a means of augmenting the “handful of deputies” he has at his disposal.

Texas Campus Carry Goes Into Effect

From Reason:

A Texas law that affirms the right of students and faculty to carry guns on public university campuses went into effect today. Much has been made of the significance of the date, given that the University of Texas tower shooting—one of the most infamous school massacres in history—occurred exactly 50 years ago.

The Firearm Blog Compares Guns And Alcohol

From The Firearm Blog:

I also will refrain from invoking grandiose constitutional arguments or partisan political statements – in reality, I don’t need them. What I would like to do is explain why the restriction on inanimate objects in the United States is not only ineffective, but also goes against our way of life as a free society.

Why does the United States continue to allow the legal sale, possession and use of alcohol? Its use only serves entertainment value, however the detrimental health effects from the consumption of alcohol is well documented. The social consequences of the abuse of alcohol are also wide-reaching. And the public safely concerns of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, domestic violence, sexual assault and many other crimes have a direct correlation with the use of alcohol.

Anti-Gunners Changing Language, Stop Using Gun Control

From Politico:

For example, groups seeking tighter gun laws have been trying to get away from the “gun control” label since well before ARS started testing for a new messaging strategy last year. Better options, they say, are “gun violence prevention” and “preventing gun tragedies.”

“We’ve stepped away from a debate about guns that was sort of postured pro-gun or against-gun,” said Peter Ambler, the PAC’s executive director, “into one that’s centered around data-tested ideas like the background checks that we know increased public safety and save lives, but don’t sort of disapprove of the individual gun owner and don’t disapprove of the responsible use of firearms in society.”

Gun Saved Woman When Protection Order Didn’t

From WDRB:

Police say one man is dead after forcing his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend on Saturday night.

Police say there was an active domestic violence order against Decker, but that order had recently been amended to allow Decker to stay in his parent’s home, which was next door to his ex-girlfriend, as long as he did not commit any further acts of violence. Decker was asked by family members, his ex-girlfriend and the courts to stay away from her home and not to have any contact or communication with her.
