Idaho to Repeal CCW Exemption for Politicians

Idaho is the only state to allow any person in an elected position — from school board member to state senator — to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.
That rule came under scrutiny when former state Rep. Mark Patterson, R-Boise, was allowed to carry a concealed weapon even after his permit was revoked last year.

Quinn was targeted by police because his son – who was suspected of possessing drugs – lived in the same home. His son was absent, and police records reveal they knew that fact when officers broke into Quinn’s home in a no-knock, SWAT-team style forced entry.
The state admits the raid was based “solely on the suspicion that there were legally owned firearms in the household.†(emphasis added)
But registration of firearms won’t lead to government abuse of power or confiscation…..

California Carry Law Unconstitutional

California law has a process for applying for a permit to carry a handgun for protection in public, with requirements for safety training, a background check, and so on. These requirements were not challenged. The statute also requires that the applicant have “good cause,†which was interpreted by San Diego County to mean that the applicant is faced with current specific threats. (Not all California counties have this narrow interpretation.) The Ninth Circuit, in a 2-1 opinion written by Judge O’Scannlain, ruled that Peruta was entitled to Summary Judgement, because the “good cause†provision violates the Second Amendment.
This could lead to other state laws that are similar being struck down.
Beretta Explains Expansion in Tennessee
Ugo Beretta, the owner of Italian arms manufacturer Beretta had this to say in the Washington Times:
These regulations also demean our law-abiding customers, who must now be fingerprinted like criminals before they can be allowed to purchase one of our products.
We have seen these types of legislative proposals in Maryland before, and they never seem to reduce crime. Maybe this is because the proponents of such legislation blame the product instead of human misconduct.’
I must say it is surprising to hear this opinion coming from a European, especially considering the fact that he is defending a right that they do not have in Italy.
Massachusettes: Arrested and Cleared, Lose Your Gun Rights

More than a year after the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., a panel of academic experts today released a long-awaited report recommending that Massachusetts tighten its gun laws, which are already considered among the toughest in the country.
It also said Massachusetts should require anyone wanting to purchase a hunting rifle or a shotgun to pass those standards of suitability. That could allow local police chiefs to deny gun purchases to people who have been arrested, but not convicted, of a crime.

New Yorkers Refuse to Turn In Neighbors

Just one New York State resident has been arrested thanks to a gun tip hotline set up by state police, according to the state Department of Criminal Justice Services.
In February of 2012, 11 months before the state passed their stringent gun law known as the NY SAFE Act, a hotline was set up for people to call who thought they knew someone that possessed an illegal gun. If a person was arrested and convicted the tipster would receive a $500 reward.
This information along with the lack of guns registered in Connecticut proves the point that citizens will simply ignore the law when they feel it is unjust.
The More Laws They Pass The More People Will Innovate Around Them

“It’s basically an AR-15 without the features,” said James Tresmond, a western New York lawyer representing H&H Firearms, a Lackawanna gun shop that’s seeking to sell such a rifle.”
Thanks to modifications by a Texas-based machine shop, the stripped-down rifle has an adapter that connects the spot where the grip would go to the stock, or portion of the rifle that the shooter braces against her shoulder.

Missouri Latest State To Attempt To Nullify Gun Laws

Missouri’s latest proposal, introduced last week, would attempt to nullify certain federal gun control regulations from being enforced in the state and subject law enforcement officers to criminal and civil penalties for carrying out such policies.
The state’s GOP-led General Assembly came one vote shy of overriding Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of such a measure last year. This year’s bill adds a new twist, delaying the effective date for several years to allow time for other states to join the cause.
Califonia Microstamping Law Causes Ruger and Smith & Wesson To Stop Selling Guns In State
