Rex Maralit, a 10-year NYPD veteran, his brother Wilfredo Maralit, a customs and border protection agent stationed at Los Angeles International Airport, were illegally shipping semiautomatic weapons to their brother Ariel Maralit, who lives in the Philippines.
When only law enforcement has access to guns only law enforcement will be able to smuggle guns.

It is said that when famed Austrian diplomat Klemens von Metternich heard of the death of the Turkish ambassador, he said, “I wonder what he meant by that?” True or not, serious or a joke, it points out a problem of diplomacy. In searching for the meaning behind every gesture, diplomats start to regard every action merely as a gesture. In the past month, the president of the United States treated the act of bombing Syria as a gesture intended to convey meaning rather than as a military action intended to achieve some specific end. This is the key to understanding the tale that unfolded over the past month.
When President Barack Obama threatened military action in retaliation for what he claimed was the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government, he intended a limited strike that would not destroy the weapons. Destroying them all from the air would require widespread air attacks over an extensive period of time, and would risk releasing the chemicals into the atmosphere. The action also was not intended to destroy Syrian President Bashar al Assad’s regime. That, too, would be difficult to do from the air, and would risk creating a power vacuum that the United States was unwilling to manage. China’s Tyranny a Result of Gun Control

A former Chinese national discusses the issue in National Review Online:
Citizens were not allowed to have any guns or they would be put into prison, or worse. Chinese people were helpless when they needed to defend themselves. I grew up with fear, like millions of other children — fear that the police would pound on our doors at night and take my loved ones away, fear that bad guys would come to rob us. Sometimes I could not sleep from hearing the screaming people outside.
When it came to dealing with the Chinese government and police brutality, there was nothing we could do. They had guns, while law-abiding citizens did not.
President Ignores Federal Law and Decides to Arm al Qaeda
The President has decided to go around U.S. law to arm Syrian rebels, many of whom are associated with terrorist organizations including al Qaeda.
From The Washington Examiner:
The president, citing his authority under the Arms Export Control Act, announced today that he would “waive the prohibitions in sections 40 and 40A of the AECA related to such a transaction.”
Those two sections prohibit sending weaponry to countries described in section 40(d): “The prohibitions contained in this section apply with respect to a country if the Secretary of State determines that the government of that country has repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism,” Congress stated in the Arms Control Export Act.
To be clear the President can unilaterally decide to arm terrorists, just a few weeks after he unilaterally decided to deny the re-importation of rifles from the Korean War, rifles which the U.S. taxpayers paid for.

National Guard Member in Miss America Pageant

During Sunday’s Miss America pageant, televised September 15 at 9 p.m. on CBS, Vail will be the first contestant not to cover her tattoos during the bathing suit and evening gown portion of the competition.
Vail’s body art is not subtle. The serenity prayer is tattooed on her right side, and covers the area from just under her arm all the way down to her hip in large old English style writing. Vail has another tattoo of the army medical corp. insignia on her shoulder. Both will be visible.
NC Bill Prohibits Cops From Destroying Guns

The measure, House Bill 714, says departments may sell or auction weapons, use them for training or otherwise re-purpose them, but they may not destroy a gun if it is legal to own and in good working order.

In the wake of President Barack Obama’s change of tack from a strike on Syria, the threat of war has not dissolved. It has, however, been pushed off beyond this round of negotiations.
The president’s minimalist claims are in place, but they are under serious debate. There is no chance of an attack on chemical weapons stockpiles. Therefore, the attack, if any, will be on command and control and political targets. Obama has options on the table and there will be force in place for any contingency he selects.
