ATF Suggests Change To Make Gun Registry Possible
From Gun Owners of America:
And we know that the ATF is now trying to put the names of gun owners on the same page of the 4473 as the identifying information of the gun. See here.
But if they’re successful with changing the 4473 in this way, it will be much easier for ATF to create a national gun registry by photographing paper documents.
Senator Wants To Register All Gun Owners
From Reason:
Booker’s campaign compares buying a gun to driving a car, arguing that “just as a driver’s license demonstrates a person’s eligibility and proficiency to drive a car, a gun license demonstrates that a person is eligible and can meet certain basic safety and training standards necessary to own a gun.” Under Booker’s system, anyone who wants a gun would have to prove he or she has passed a gun safety course. In addition to giving information on their background, applicants would also submit fingerprints.
If approved, prospective gun buyers would be issued a license. “The license would be valid for up to five years before renewal with regular, automatic checks to flag non-compliance with license terms,” the proposal says. Under another part of the plan, no one would be able to buy more than one handgun a month, though this restriction presumably wouldn’t apply to rifles and shotguns.
Upcoming Gun Ban Bills
From The Federalist:
Last Wednesday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced her latest bill, co-sponsored by 27 other Democrat senators and Bernie Sanders, to ban new “assault weapons,” meaning mostly AR-15s and similar semi-automatic rifles. The bill would also ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Such magazines are designed for defensive purposes and are primarily used in semi-automatic rifles and handguns for that purpose.
Canadians Flock To Gun Courses
The Canadian gun registry is no more and now Canucks are rushing to take safety classes and purchase guns.
From CBC:
Peter Palmer, the co-ordinator of hunter education courses for the Department of Natural Resources, says enrollment in courses increased 23 per cent after the long gun registry was abolished last year.
NRA and ACLU Join Forces to Fight NSA Spying Program
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 8/Sep/2013 08:59
From Reuters:
In a brief backing the American Civil Liberties Union’s lawsuit against senior U.S. government officials, the NRA said the collection of vast communications threatens privacy and could allow the government to create a registry of gun owners.
Newspaper Fires Editor For Publishing List of Gun Owners
From World Net Daily:
The Rockland editor said she felt threatened by the complaints, but local police didn’t believe there was a credible threat. McBride and other executives then decided to hire armed guards to protect their property, the Times reported, “causing an uproar due to the perceived hypocrisy of the avowed anti-gun editors hiring gun-toting men.”
