Amazon Driver Kills Carjacker
From Bearing Arms:
An initial investigation showed that the Amazon driver was working in the area when they were approached by the suspect. The suspect attempted to take the worker’s vehicle at gunpoint.
At some point during the altercation, the suspect was shot by the worker. The suspect tried to drive away in the worker’s vehicle after sustaining the gunshot wound, but crashed the vehicle shortly after driving away.
Cleveland EMS pronounced the suspect dead at the scene.
Amazon Fires Black Father Of Three For Defending Himself
From Fox19:
“I had to fend for my life at that moment, because that guy was attacking me with a knife,” he said. “He came at me with a knife. If I didn’t have my firearm, I would not be here today. I know that for a fact. I would not be here today. My family would be planning my funeral.”
Cincinnati School Teaching Gun Safety Class
From Bearing Arms:
Students in one Cincinnati charter school are learning those basics and going beyond, thanks to a decision to introduce real gun safety education to students. The DAMPE Community School uses Dance, Art, Music, and Physical Education as integral parts of the curriculum, and school principal Tonjarene Bronston has incorporated gun safety instruction into the school’s P.E. classes, telling a local television station that she and other educators can’t ignore the reality that many of their students are growing up in neighborhoods where violence is a common event.
Ohio Gov To Be Impeached Over Lockdown Order
From Breitbart:
“Governor DeWine’s mismanagement, malfeasance, misfeasance, abuse of power, and other crimes include, but are not limited to, meddling in the conduct of a presidential primary election, arbitrarily closing and placing curfews on certain businesses, while allowing other businesses to remain open,†said Rep. Becker’s office in a statement.
“He weaponized the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to bully and harass businesses and the people; to enforce a statewide mask mandate and other controversial measures of dubious ‘value,’ making Ohio a hostile work environment,†the statement added.
Ohio OKs Armed Teachers
From Bearing Arms:
Lawmakers in the Buckeye State aren’t waiting for the court to decide if the current statutes allow for districts to determine their own training policies for armed school staff. On Wednesday, the state Senate approved legislation that specifically authorizes school staffers to carry without going through hundreds of hours of peace officer training.
GOA Continues Fight Against Bump Stock Ban
From Ammoland:
In particular, one appellate judge was very concerned that, in the future, the “ATF could choose to redefine ‘machine gun’ as including all semiautomatic weapons that can be modified with a device like a bump stock.â€
Of course, this is exactly the point that GOA has made in its briefs to the court. If the ATF can claim that a bump stock can turn an AR-15 into a machine gun, then the same can be said about rubber bands or belt loops.
Constitutional Carry Bill In Ohio
From Guns.com:
The measure, HB 178, eliminates the state’s concealed weapons license requirement and codifies the right of a person who is 21 or older and not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm to carry a handgun without first getting a CWL. The bill won the 7-4 approval of the House Federalism Committee this week.
School Buys Hockey Pucks To Fend Off Shooters
From Reason:
A college in Michigan thinks the best way for students and professors to defend themselves in the event of a mass shooting might be to throw hockey pucks at the gunman.
To that end, Oakland University’s faculty union purchased 800 pucks for professors and 1,700 for students, according to NPR. Oakland Police Chief Mark Gordon described the hockey pucks as a “spur-of-the-moment idea that seemed to have some merit to it.”
Government Contracts As Gun Control
From NRA-ILA:
That was certainly the case this week when Toledo’s Democrat mayor, Wade Kapszukiewicz, announced he would use the City’s firearm and ammunition procurement process to pressure vendors into adopting practices not required by law to restrict “civilian†access to their products. “I’m not saying this is going to eradicate the problem in our nation or even avoid a tragedy in my own city, but just because we can’t do everything doesn’t mean we can do nothing,†he told The Huffington Post, which falsely reported the policy is “the first of its kind in the U.S.â€
Ohio Bump Stock Ban Unconstitutional
Posted by Brian in Law, News, Threat Watch on 16/Jul/2018 17:00
From BearingArms:
A judge ruled this week that Columbus’ citywide ban on bump stocks is unconstitutional.
If that ruling holds, Cincinnati’s ban could be next to fall — though its main sponsor says he thinks that’s unlikely and a ways off.
