New Shield Plus Holds 13+1 Rounds
From Guns.com:
The new 9mm M&P Shield Plus, which comes in both standard and Performance Center models, comes with 10- and 13-round mags while keeping the same traditional frame – and therefore holster – size as the legacy Shields. Other new additions are an updated and optimized grip texture and redesigned trigger. S&W says the flat-face trigger will give users a consistent trigger finger placement allowing for more accurate and repeatable shooting, while the new stippling on the grip texture allows the user to manage recoil, keep a firm grip, and not irritate the skin while carrying concealed.Â
New Ruger Micro Compact
From Guns.com:
Equipped with a tritium fiber optic day/night front sight that is co-witnessed for JPoint and Shield-pattern micro red dot sights, the MAX-9 runs flush-fit 10-round magazines as well as 12 rounders with a grip extension. Standard models have a frame-mounted 1911-style thumb safety while Pro models are available without the lever.
5.7 Has Been Standardized By NATO
From American Rifleman:
The FN-designed 5.7×28 mm caliber has been officially standardized by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Its development began in the late 1980s when, “Jean-Paul Denis and Marc Neuforge, designers at FN Herstal, started from scratch to design a new cartridge and then a platform to launch it,†according to Dave Campbell’s story for American Rifleman.
ATF Backs Down On Pistol Braces
From Guns.com:
Five days after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives posted the 15-page notice and request for comments in the Federal Register, igniting a firestorm of criticism, the agency backpedaled and withdrew it. The action mimicked the rapid reversal on the proposed regulation on M855 Greentip ammunition in 2015 that saw a similar outcry.Â
Polymer80 Refuses To Release Customer Info
From Ammoland:
At the same time, Polymer80 received a subpoena from the state of California demanding that they turn over customer information. Polymer80 is refusing to comply with the subpoena and is committed to fighting back against the anti-gun state. Polymer80 attorneys told AmmoLand News that the company will fight against California’s legal request and is committed to protecting its customer’s information. The company is still selling and manufacturing 80% frames.
Cabela’s Sued For Legal Ammunition Sale
From The Truth About Guns:
Federal law states that people can’t be sued for engaging in lawful trade of guns and ammo. Oh, if someone breaks the law or if the products are faulty, that’s different, but just for engaging in lawful trade? Nope.
Of course, that doesn’t stop lawsuits from happening. Usually, they’re thrown out, but an anti-gun court decision against Remington didn’t just hurt the company, it’s likely to hurt the entire gun industry as now the vultures are out and about. Since a judge ruled that the lawsuit against Remington could continue, they’re hoping other judges will follow suit.
Closed vs Open Optics
From Personal Defense Network:
“Should I use a closed or open optic for a red dot sight on my defensive pistol?†Rob Pincus has been hearing this question a lot lately, and here are his thoughts.
A Truly Modular Pistol
From The Truth About Guns:
As SIG SAUER’s Chief Marketing Officer, Tom Taylor, told a room full of gun writers, accessory makers and even a few competitors last week, the New Hampshire gun maker wants their modular P320 to be thought of in the same way as the 1911 and the AR-15. They want it to be a “universal†platform around which revolves scores of parts, accessories and add-ons made by custom shops and parts makers all around the country.
Why Buy A Hi-Point?
From The Truth About Guns:
Hi-Points are to firearms design what Olive Garden is to Italian food. They’ll get the job done and…that’s about it. No surprise, then, that Hi-Point’s guns rarely appear on the top of anyone’s want firearms list. Our reviews have been a mixed bag where HP’s guns are concerned. The C9 pistol didn’t fare well. But the 1095 TS 10mm carbine and the Yeet Cannon G1 did better. But there are at least three good reasons (besides their lifetime warranty) to buy one.
