Texas Democrat Opposes “Wild West Pimp Style” Bill
From The Reload:
This woman has no idea what she is talking about. All she knows is that she hates these inanimate objects.
Oregon Proposes Draconian Gun Storage Law
From AP:
Oregon’s bill mandates that gun owners secure unattended weapons with trigger locks or in locked compartments. Those who don’t would be strictly liable for any injuries or property damage. If a minor gets ahold of an unsecured firearm, the gun’s owner would face a maximum $2,000 fine.
Nevada Op-Ed On The Racist History Of Gun Laws
From The Nevada Independent:
The last several years of racial and cultural tension have had a predictable effect on firearm ownership that is certain to complicate progressives’ political calculus regarding gun control: More Americans are buying more firearms than ever, and minorities are increasingly joining the ranks of first-time gun buyers.
The explosion of firearm ownership among Black Americans, especially, is something that would make some of the civil rights activists of decades-past beam with pride—and, with good reason: Historically, gun control has negatively affected disadvantaged communities to a greater extent than white middle-America, and gun rights were once integral to the expansion of civil rights.
Biden Says Bill Of Rights Are Not Absolute
From National Review:
There are already tens of thousands of laws governing individual gun ownership in the United States. There are more laws restricting this guaranteed individual right than any other in the Constitution. The notion that gun ownership is “absolute†— or anything in the proximity of absolute – is preposterous beyond words. Imagine your freedom of speech being contingent on an FBI background check? (Though maybe we shouldn’t give progressives any ideas.)
Biden Gets “Mostly False” Rating From Politifact
From HotAir:
PolitiFact focuses only on one of those falsehoods — the hoary “gun show loophole†that never existed in the first place. Democratic politicians have tried making the same claim for years if not decades, but it’s a flat-out lie:
“These bills, one, require background checks for anyone purchasing a gun at a gun show or an online sale,†Biden said at the April 8 event. “Most people don’t know it, you walk into a store and you buy a gun, you have a background check. But you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want, and no background check.â€
When it comes to background checks for gun purchases, what matters is who sells the guns, not where the guns are sold — and when a federally licensed seller is a vendor at a gun show, they have to run a background check just as they would if they were back at a bricks-and-mortar gun store.
Gun Bans Are The Goal
From Ammoland:
That admitting these are but “initial actions,†and that there’s plenty more citizen disarmament waiting in the wings confirms what alert gun owners have known since Sen. Thomas Dodd, author of the Gun Control Act of 1968, publicly wished for “abolishing all guns†and to “destroy them all,†and since Brady Campaign predecessor Handgun Control Inc.’s Nelson “Pete†Shields revealed in 1976 the plot to “take one step at a time [to] make possession of all handguns … totally illegal.â€
Dems Continue Assault On Guns With Online Ammo Bill
From Guns.com:
First, it would institute a program to require ammo dealers to obtain a license to sell their products to consumers. Current federal law only requires a license for those engaged in importing or manufacturing ammunition, not to sell, purchase, or possess. This would inevitably have the effect of trimming the number of legal vendors to the marketplace.
Next, Coleman’s bill would require face-to-face transfers of ammunition from licensed dealers to consumers, which is a departure from the common practice today of gun owners searching for deals through online sites such as Guns.com to fill their ammo needs. This would be further enhanced by a ban on shipping ammo to anyone without a license.
Congress Wants AR/AK Pistols As NFA Items
From Guns.com:
Describing them as “concealable assault-style rifles,” a group of Democrats in Congress called on President Biden Wednesday to regulate semi-auto rifle-caliber pistols under the National Firearms Act.
In a letter penned by Democrat U.S. Reps. Val B. Demings (FL-10), Joe Neguse (CO-02), Ed Perlmutter and Mike Thompson (CA-05), then signed by roughly half their caucus, contends that AR- and AK-style pistols should be covered under the NFA, a move that would require $200 tax stamps, registration, and layers of ATF red tape.
Vox Admits Biden’s Gun Control Won’t Do Much
From Bearing Arms:
Americans are broadly in favor of regulations on assault weapons and background checks for gun purchases, a new poll from Data for Progress and Vox finds. However, these measures are likely to only have a moderate impact on the country’sskyhigh rates of gun violence.
ATF Targeting 80% Industry
From Ammoland:
Although the detailed discussions of the meeting are unknown at this time, AmmoLand News received leaked emails from our sources that show that the ATF is seeking a new definition of a firearm. Joe Biden has targeted so-called “ghost guns†and semi-automatic rifles and recent days. Sources say he is pushing to accelerate those changes by using the ATF as a stop-gap for stalled federal legislation.
California AG Office Admits Gun Registration Didn’t Work
From Bearing Arms:
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office quietly signed a settlement agreement in federal court admitting his agency’s gun-registration website was so poorly designed that potentially thousands of Californians were unable to register their assault weapons and comply with state law.
Senator Suggest That Banks Lose FDIC Insurance If They Discriminate Against Gun Businesses
From The Truth About Guns:
And these are legal commerce. These are profitable companies. I’m just saying that you can’t discriminate that way if you’re an FDIC bank. And if you do, you should probably lose your insurance.
New Zealand Sees Rise In Gun Crime After “Clampdown”
From RNZ News:
The government’s clampdown on firearms and seizures of high-powered semi-automatic weapons has had no impact on a rise in gun crime and violence in New Zealand.
14 Things You Should Know About Guns Before Talking About Guns
From The Federalist:
There’s sadly no excuse to be ignorant about firearms. They’ve been around for hundreds of years. They’re owned and operated safely by tens of millions of Americans each year. Our Constitution guarantees our individual right to possess guns so that we might be able to defend ourselves from those who would violently take away our freedom. Many gun controllers, however — some of whom have bylines for major media organizations — don’t actually know the first thing about firearms.
