NRA Member Self Defense Story

From Gun Mart Blog:

Riots had broken out when Al Parsons was attending summer school at Louisiana State University soon after the Gun Control Act of 1968 passed, and someone was beating on his apartment door at midnight.

Mr. Parsons, a 67-year-old retiree from Indiana, said he had recently asked his father to purchase a pistol for him – a buy he suspects would now be labeled an illegal “straw purchase.”

“So I picked up that gun and I walked to the front door, and I opened it, and I stick the pistol in the first one’s stomach,” said Mr. Parsons, the former CEO of the Insurance Federation of Minnesota. “I said, ‘Can I help you?’ There were three on one side, two on the other, and [he] said, ‘Oh, no, we must have the wrong place.’

Court Rules Illegal Aliens Have A Right To Own Firearms

From Breitbart:

The Second Amendment provides that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In a seminal 2008 case, the Supreme Court held in District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment secures an individual right to keep and bear arms. On August 20, 2015, Chief Judge Diane Wood (a liberal appointee of Bill Clinton who was on Barack Obama’s short-list for the Supreme Court) wrote for a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit that the panel could “see no principled way to carve out the Second Amendment and say that [illegal aliens] are excluded” from exercising Second Amendment rights.

Judge Rules In Favor Of Gun Rights On Behalf Of Gay Group

From LGBTQ Nation:

The group, which advocates for gay Americans to carry firearms, just won a major victory on Tuesday: a federal judge in Washington halted enforcement of a portion of the city’s strict gun law, ordering Washington DC police to stop requiring residents to demonstrate they have “a good reason to fear injury,” which he ruled places “an unconstitutional burden” on citizens’ right to bear arms.

Texas Reaches 1 Million Concealed Handgun Licenses

From AllGov.com:

As of April 30, there were 1,017,618 active handgun license holders in Texas, according to the state agency that oversees the process, the Department of Public Safety. That means there are more people in Texas with permission to carry a gun than there are residents of the city of Fort Worth. Texas’ numbers far exceed those in several other states. Oklahoma has more than 251,000. South Carolina has 276,084. Washington state, 534,978. Tennessee, 555,865. But at least one state has more license holders: Florida, with 1,743,954.

However, Texas, with 5,672 permits issued per 100,000 adults 21 and over, is not the state with the most gun permits per capita. Florida (11,965 permits per 100,000 adults), Tennessee (11,851 per 100,000 adults) and Washington state (10,635 per 100,000 adults) are some of the leaders by that measure.

Australia Proves Gun Controllers Can’t Be Satisfied

From News.com.au:

“The majority of gun owners are law-abiding people who need them as legitimate tools. As with terrorism, you have to legislate for the minority.”

Malcolm Turnbull today promised Australia’s firearms laws would become even stronger. Attending a memorial service for the 35 people who died at Port Arthur, the Prime Minister said: “John Howard ensured that we have had, and have, the toughest gun control laws in the world and we are committed to ensuring they remain just that.

“We are committed to ensuring that our national firearms agreement becomes stronger and that Australians remain safe from gun crimes, like the shocking events at Port Arthur.”

Adm. McRaven Doesn’t Want Students Carrying Guns

From The Daily Texan:

“I’m a big second amendment guy, you know; I’m a strong supporter,” McRaven said. “But my position today — I’m an educator. As I look across the students and the faculty and the administrators and the staff and their concerns that they have voiced to me about this creating an unsafe environment with more guns on campus, it’s hard for me to support campus carry when I see their concerns.”

California Bill Could Treat Gun Owners Like Murderers

From Ammoland:

The bill, authored by Senator Ben Allen (D-Redondo Beach) will make non-violent firearms related crimes “continuing offenses.” These offenses involve unlawful self-importation or transfers of firearms. These crimes need not have any criminal intent, nor is there a victim involved. These victimless crimes are the act of import or transfer, not possession.

SB 1037 would make this prosecutable for life- the same as capital murder- all for forgetting to fill out a form and mail it to the California Department of Justice with $19.00.

Insanity: Maryland Democrat Proposes Banning BB Guns, Toys

From Grand View Outdoors:

The new bill proposed by Baltimore delegate Jill Carter would bar the sale, possession or use of so-called “imitation firearms” and would impose a $1,000 fine and up to a year in prison for any violation. The bill defines imitation firearms as “a toy, a device or an object that substantially duplicates or can reasonably be perceived to be a firearm or a handgun.”

There is no so-called “grandfather clause,” so according to the legislation, anyone who owns a toy or an air gun that’s defined as an “imitation” would be violating the law.

After Paris Attack, Band Frontman Says Gun Control Didn’t Save A Single Life

From Newsweek:

In a tearful interview to French TV channel iTélé, the 43-year-old said: “Did your French gun control stop a single f***ing person from dying at the Bataclan? And if anyone can answer yes, I’d like to hear it, because I don’t think so. I think the only thing that stopped it was some of the bravest men that I’ve ever seen in my life charging headfirst into the face of death with their firearms.

“I know people will disagree with me, but it just seems like God made men and women, and that night guns made them equal,” he added. “And I hate it that it’s that way. I think … that maybe until nobody has guns everybody has to have them.

“I’m alive today because of him,” the deputy, 23-year-old Dylan Dorris said Wednesday, reflecting on the events surrounding a disturbance call outside a Bastrop County gas station Jan. 16. “There are no words to explain it. He’s such an outstanding citizen. He’s here for our country, our community and you really feel the love.”

Perkins’ actions caused the suspect to leave Dorris and flee, before he was detained and taken into custody by another deputy and Dorris shortly after.
