MQ-4C Triton in Flight Testing Over U.S.

From ArsTechnica:

The drone is just the first piece in what the Navy calls Broad Area Maritime Surveillance, or BAMS. The MQ-4C Triton will be used to keep tabs on a wide area using “radar, infrared sensors and advanced cameras to provide full-motion video and photographs to the military,” according to The Washington Post. Eventually, a network of these drones could be deployed to fly around the world and provide 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage of a given area.

Obama Bans First Navy Jack From Navy Uniforms

From The Daily Caller:

The email, dated October 22, reads:

ALL:

WARCOM and GROUP TWO/ONE have pushed out the uniform policy for NWU III and any patches worn on the sleeve.

All personnel are only authorized to wear the matching “AOR” American Flag patch on the right shoulder.  You are no longer authorized to wear the “Don’t Tread On Me” patch.

Again the only patch authorized for wear is the American flag on the right shoulder. Please pass the word to all

Thanks

I think it is obvious that because the First Navy Jack has the phrase “Don’t Tread On Me” which is used by those politically opposed to the administration, the administration has decided to ban the First Navy Jack from uniforms. Never mind the fact that as of Sept. 11, 2002 all Navy ships are to fly the First Navy Jack. Where is the directive to reverse that decision? And what about soldiers, seamen or marines who have the phrase tattooed on their body?

Navy Wants Doc-Bots, Robo-Ambulances

From: Danger Room

The Office of Naval Research recently announced that it’s looking to build a prototype medical robot it calls the Autonomous Critical Care System. ACCS’ first job would be monitoring critical patients’ vital signs. Eventually, though, the Navy wants its bot to provide fluid, drugs, anaesthesia, suction, oxygen and help regulate a patient’s temperature. more

E-6B Mercury “Dooms-day” Plane

I happened to glance over at the end of the runway one night at NAS JRB FTW and see this plane parked almost on the numbers with security staged around it. Knowing what the plane is for, it kind of spooked me.

GW was 90 miles away at the ranch that night and I suppose it was positioned there just in case he needed it, although I never saw it there before or after that night and The President spent many nights at the ranch.

From: MSNBC

When United States Navy helicopters swept down on the school in a ruined Japanese village, survivors first looked hesitantly from the windows. Then they rushed out, helping unload food, water and clothes. They clasped hands with the Americans. Some embraced them.

Women of USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76)

This video from 2009 is kind of fun but the really interesting thing is all of the comments on YouTube thanking the crew for their help in the ongoing  tsunami relief effort.

This is typical:

Thank you to you all from Japan!

Japanese ppl never forget your assistance.
