Will Supreme Court Back Up Its Second Amendment Decisions?
From CATO Institute:
In 2008, in the landmark case of D.C. v. Heller, the Supreme Court held that the Second Amendment protects the individual right to keep and bear arms.
Later, in 2010’s McDonald v. Chicago, the Court held that the Second Amendment protects citizens from not just federal prohibitions, as Heller said, but also from state and municipal prohibitions.
Since that time, the Court has not heard another Second Amendment case. Both Hellerand McDonald made it clear that the government cannot ban or effectively ban guns, but lower courts are still struggling to define what restrictions are allowed under those rulings. The Supreme Court needs to clear up the uncertainty.

Silent Circle Moves To Switerland
From the Silent Circle Blog:
Switzerland – the land of Privacy, Neutrality and now Silent Circle (not to mention great cheese, chocolate and watches). We are very much an international firm. We have employees scattered among 9 countries, data centers in Canada and Switzerland, and we count customers from over 130 countries with a heavy concentration of Global 1000 enterprise customers outside of North America. We decided to move our Headquarters from the Caribbean island of Nevis to Switzerland and move a lot of our customer service, finance, sales and operations into this new large office.
It was very important for us to remain a “Global Neutral Privacy Providerâ€, as well as a political and religious agnostic company. Switzerland has the world’s most robust privacy laws, fantastic business and financial resources and an incredible business-friendly atmosphere. In addition to being the world’s center for Human Rights, Global freedom of speech and an innovative technology hub, Switzerland is our perfect home. This move was a logical an easy decision for us. With over 75% of our customer base outside of North America and our Joint Venture company Blackphone also headquartered in our joint new office space in Switzerland – it was a natural move.
We will continue to grow our North America office in Washington, DC as well as our London office, but most of our new growth will take place in our new headquarters. So, if you find yourself in Europe or close to Switzerland, we are only a short hop or train ride away – so please do stop into our new Headquarters office to say hi.

Expanding The Second Amendment
From Intellectual Conservative:
So how do we bring an 18th century Constitution written with sacred honor, into a 21st century world without honor, and get compliance with the Constitution, where officials who swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution actually do so? We do it like we do for everything else now. We amend the Constitution to include fines and prison time for not only non-compliance, but lack of active enforcement.
Louisiana Lawmakers Give Themselves More Rights Than Citizens
From KTBS:
State lawmakers would be exempt from many weapons restrictions imposed on the general public, under a bill nearing final legislative passage.
$10,000 Reward Offered By ATF and NSSF For Felon
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 14/May/2014 12:50
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) New Orleans Field Division is offering a reward, along with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, for a total of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of convicted felon John Ross Harold for stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer, receiving stolen firearms, and felon in possession of firearms.
On Feb. 27, 2014, at approximately 1:40 a.m., police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the city of D’Iberville, Miss. The vehicle attempted to elude police and after a short pursuit, the driver, identified as Kevin Parfait, was taken into custody. The passenger, identified as John Ross Harold, is still at large. A search warrant was executed on the vehicle and 25 firearms were recovered. These firearms were subsequently identified as being stolen from Cooks Gun Shop, 4515 Popps Ferry Road, D’Iberville, Miss., on the same night. In addition, on April 1, 2014, Harold forced entry into a residence located in Terrebonne Parish, La., and shot a resident. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant on Harold for the crimes of attempted murder and home invasion. Harold is believed to be armed and dangerous in the Houma, La., area.
“Mr. Harold and his co-conspirator orchestrated a robbery that ended with an innocent citizen being shot,†said Special Agent in Charge Phillip Durham. “Their greed-motivated reckless behavior led to another person being injured. ATF will continue to do all we can to curb violent crime and take those dedicated to violence off our streets.â€
Anyone with information about this crime should contact ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (800-283-4867) or the U.S. Marshals Service at 202-307-9100. All calls will be kept confidential.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers. ATF works closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
ATF is the federal agency with jurisdiction for investigating firearms crimes. More information on ATF can be found at www.atf.gov.
Harold is a 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, black male with black hair and brown eyes. He also has multiple tattoos on his chest and arms. Anyone with information regarding the crimes or Harold’s whereabouts can contact the ATF at 1-800-283-4867, or the U.S. Marshals Service at 202-307-9100.
NFA Trust Regulation Faces Stiff Opposition
From The Guardian:
An executive action announced by the White House last year said that all members of legally certified trusts buying or receiving federally regulated weapons would need to identify themselves by submitting photographs, fingerprints and a signed approval from a local law-enforcement chief to US authorities.
In any case, the implementation of the new rule appears to have staved off for the time being by the vehement opposition lodged with the ATF. Williams, of the American Silencer Association, said he and colleagues had been told by senior ATF officials in a meeting in Nevada in January that “they received more comments than they anticipated, and because of that, the final ruling likely won’t be issued until next yearâ€.
