Another Gun Ban Called For After Shooting
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 14/Jun/2016 17:07
From The Federalist:
It happens like clock work: as soon as there’s a mere whisper of a terrorist attack or a mass shooting, the usual suspects kick in to high gear. Their destination is always the same: a faraway land where a so-called assault weapons ban magically eliminates not only guns but also prevents guns from walking of their own volition, without need of human agency, into crowded places and killing people.
Ninth Circuit: No Right To Concealed Carry
From The Wall Street Journal:
Americans have no Second Amendment right to carry concealed guns in public, a federal appeals court in California ruled on Thursday in a significant blow to gun-rights activists and gun owners in a large swath of the Western U.S.
The Ninth Circuit covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Rape Survivor’s Story Saves Woman

From Hot Air:
Obama commended Corban for overcoming a horrific event in her life, adding that his executive actions don’t make it harder for her to purchase firearms, and proceeded to mansplain to her how owning guns could lead to the owner becoming a fatality—an awful thing to say to a survivor of sexual assault, but that’s for another time. Flash-forward to the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in May, Kristi McMains needed to meet Corban, as her story helped her save her life from a would-be robber that attempted to stab her.

Stacey Dash Used Gun In Self Defense
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 6/Jun/2016 07:00
From Washington Times:
“He had a gun to my head and I thought, ‘My son is in that crib right there,’ †Ms. Dash said. “[I thought], ‘No you are not going to do this. My son’s life was more important to me than my own.’â€
When her attacker came back, Ms. Dash said she picked up a gun and fired several shots at him but missed.
UCLA Shooter Ignored Laws
Posted by Brian in Law, News, Threat Watch on 4/Jun/2016 07:28
From National Review:
As soon as the story hit the news, the usual suspects began cranking themselves up. Americans, they said, need to “do something.†It was time, they argued, for “more laws.†And the NRA? It was, of course, to blame. Forgive me for being a broken record, but I have some questions in response to these reactions: Namely, “what something?â€; “which laws?â€; and “what, specifically, did the NRA do wrong here?†Rolled into one, these congeal into a single, simple inquiry: “What law — specifically — would have prevented yesterday’s shooting?â€

Illegals Smuggled In From Middle East
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 3/Jun/2016 07:00
From The Washington Times:
Those smuggled included Palestinians, Pakistanis and the Afghan man who Homeland Security officials said had family ties to the Taliban and was “involved in a plot to conduct an attack in the U.S. and/or Canada.†He is in custody but the Times is withholding his name at the request of law enforcement to protect ongoing investigations.
“It’s disturbing, in so many ways,†said Joe Kasper, Mr. Hunter’s chief of staff. “The interdiction of this group validates once again that the southern border is wide open to more than people looking to enter the U.S. illegally strictly for purposes of looking for work, as the administration wants us to believe. What’s worse, federal databases weren’t even synched and Border Patrol had no idea who they were arresting and the group was not considered a problem because none of them were considered a priority under the president’s enforcement protocol. That’s a major problem on its own, and it calls for DHS to figure out the problem — and fast.â€
Machine Guns On Trial
From Ammoland:
A panel for the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed a district court ruling and sided with the government against a man who was authorized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to manufacture a post-1986 machine gun through a trust, only to have the permission rescinded and his property confiscated. In doing so, and by ignoring founding intent behind the Second Amendment, the panel ruled the right of Americans to own militia-suitable firearms can not only be infringed, but that it’s not even a right.
NRA Member Self Defense Story
From Gun Mart Blog:
Riots had broken out when Al Parsons was attending summer school at Louisiana State University soon after the Gun Control Act of 1968 passed, and someone was beating on his apartment door at midnight.
Mr. Parsons, a 67-year-old retiree from Indiana, said he had recently asked his father to purchase a pistol for him – a buy he suspects would now be labeled an illegal “straw purchase.”
“So I picked up that gun and I walked to the front door, and I opened it, and I stick the pistol in the first one’s stomach,” said Mr. Parsons, the former CEO of the Insurance Federation of Minnesota. “I said, ‘Can I help you?’ There were three on one side, two on the other, and [he] said, ‘Oh, no, we must have the wrong place.’
Shooting Sports Rise As Traditional Sports Fall
From Forbes:
Yes, the Second Amendment is making its way toward becoming the Great American Pastime, especially as baseball was among 17 other sports — including football and basketball — out of 24 tracked that have seen youth participation drop over the last five years.
Bill Clinton Made AR-15 Most Popular Rifle In America
From The Guardian:
“I believe it created a category of gun ownership that didn’t exist before. These were casual, recreational shooters that might not have gone out of the way to put down money for something like that,†Morgan said.
“I believe that we can assign Freudian psychology to it,†he said. “The sudden placement of taboo on that firearm elevated demand.â€
Katie Couric: Hypocrite
From The Federalist:
In “Under the Gun,†Couric asks a group of gun rights supporters, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?†The documentary filmmakers spliced in footage of the activists sitting silently for nine seconds. One man looks down, seemingly uncomfortable, during the awkward silence. The documentary then moves on to the next scene of a cylinder on a revolver being closed.
Couric documentarians fabricated this moment, using footage from a session that was unrelated to the question asked. In fact, according to audio of Couric’s interview provided by the gun rights activists, they all rushed to respond to to Couric, providing answers based on principle and practical concerns. “Well, one — if you’re not in jail, you should still have your basic rights,†said one of the gun owners. Others responded as well.
Indeed, when Katie Couric ran interference for Cecile Richards, doing a lengthy sit-down puffball interview and a tour of an abortion clinic where she didn’t once mention, uh, abortion, she twice decried the videos as “edited.†Couric is a long-time pro-abortion activist, not just using the mainstream media to advocate it, but having marched in support of the right to end unborn human lives. Last week on David Axelrod’s podcast, she said that her parents were major influences on her, specifically citing her mother’s volunteer work for Planned Parenthood and the fact that her mother invested in Trojan condoms when she learned about the AIDS crisis. Classy!
Court Rules Illegal Aliens Have A Right To Own Firearms
From Breitbart:
The Second Amendment provides that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.†In a seminal 2008 case, the Supreme Court held in District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment secures an individual right to keep and bear arms. On August 20, 2015, Chief Judge Diane Wood (a liberal appointee of Bill Clinton who was on Barack Obama’s short-list for the Supreme Court) wrote for a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit that the panel could “see no principled way to carve out the Second Amendment and say that [illegal aliens] are excluded†from exercising Second Amendment rights.
Katie Couric Performs Daily Show Edit In New “Documentary”
From Ammoland:
Watching the video, you hear Katie ask, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorist from walking into, say, a licensed gun dealer and purchasing a gun?†The camera then shows the group members TOTALLY SILENT FOR EIGHT SECONDS. The camera zooms in on one member, who looks down.
The clear implication is that none of the group had an answer for that question and was being evasive and avoiding eye contact.
The truth is, and as you will hear in the audio, below, that the group responded to Katie immediately, with answers to her question! Yet the video shows no one responding. Clearly, when Katie didn’t get the answer(s) she wanted, she changed the group’s answers by replacing them with other video of the group sitting around quietly between questions.

D.C. Concealed Law Ruled Unconstitutional
From The Washington Post:
A federal judge ruled Tuesday that a key provision of the District’s new gun law is probably unconstitutional, ordering D.C. police to stop requiring individuals to show “good reason†to obtain a permit to carry a firearm on the streets of the nation’s capital.
U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon found that the law violates the “core right of self-defense†granted in the Second Amendment, setting aside arguments from District officials that the regulation is needed to prevent crime and protect the public.
