The Handgun as a self defense tool
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 27/Sep/2010 21:41
“The key advantage of the handgun is that it’s practical. There are much better weapons for defending yourself. A rifle or shotgun will always offer more protection than a handgun. The reason why handguns are so practical is that it’s not always feasible to reach for a rifle.
When you need it quickly, or there’s a surprise attack, a handgun in easy reach will get the job done. It’s also handy because it’s concealable.
Training is essential. The best training is to take a course with a certified instructor, but for various reasons (including cost), this is not always a great option. If you’ve got the money, this is the way to go; if you’re on a budget, there are other options.
One great course that’s very reasonable is the NRA’s Education and Training Division.
Some maintain that the handgun is the easiest and most practical tool for defending you and your family. Before it will do you any good, you’ve got to know how to use it.”

They Tried To Ban Your Ammo!
The EPA within a matter of hours today went from taking requests about banning lead ammo to completely rejecting the idea.
The EPA had planned to solicit public responses to the petition for two months, but this afternoon issued a statement rejecting a 100-page request from the Center for Biological Diversity, the American Bird Conservancy, and three other groups for a ban on lead bullets, shot, and fishing sinkers. The agency is still considering what to do about sinkers.
Vigilance is required if we are to maintain our liberties.
DISCLOSE Act: Warning from The National Association for Gun Rights
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Law, News, Opinion on 26/Jul/2010 18:00
Dear gun rights ally,
The fate of free speech is being debated in the U.S. Senate RIGHT NOW.
Harry Reid’s midnight skulduggery has the DISCLOSE Act on the fast track to passage TOMORROW afternoon.
That’s right; Harry Reid and his anti-gun allies in the Senate are scheduled to shred the First Amendment tomorrow at 2:45pm EST.
And unless the American people stand up and say NO, they will succeed.
Please, call your senators and ask them to vote against and publicly oppose the DISCLOSE Act.
As you know, the DISCLOSE Act was written to protect the anti-gun Establishment in Washington, D.C.
If passed into law, it could silence virtually every state and national conservative organization in the country, including the National Association for Gun Rights and any state level gun rights organization you belong to.
The DISCLOSE Act is a direct attack on your First Amendment right to petition Congress and mention legislation or voting records during the election season.
You and I both know that election season is the best time to hold politicians accountable for their anti-gun votes.
The DISCLOSE Act is designed to silence grassroots activists LIKE YOU and protect the Establishment politicians in Washington.
The DISCLOSE Act will affect every political organization you belong to, on any and every issue.
To make matters even worse, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has joined an unholy cabal of liberal special interests like the Sierra Club, the AARP and countless labor unions.
Together they’ve managed to gain exemptions from the onerous restrictions the DISCLOSE Act would lay on the rest of us.
I strongly encourage you to contact the NRA at 800-672-3888 and demand that they stop the backroom deals and come out strongly in opposition to the DISCLOSE ACT.
In fact, Capitol insiders say that a special relationship between Harry Reid and the NRA may be the driving force behind their exemption.
Reid is facing a very tough re-election race in Nevada and is relying on the NRA to paint him as a pro-gun candidate. If he’s held accountable for his anti-gun votes, he will almost certainly lose.
So making a deal with the NRA while simultaneously silencing all of the pro-gun groups who would take him to task is Harry Reid’s perfect political move.
And it seems to be working. The NRA has all but endorsed him (see the June 2010 issue of the NRA magazine, with flattering pictures and flowery praise of Harry Reid) and he’s scheduled a final vote on DISCLOSE for tomorrow.
We are right in the middle of this battle! Reid’s pulled every trick in the book to ram through the DISCLOSE Act.
But there is a chance we can stop this monstrous violation of our Constitutional Rights — if you ACT right now.
Please, call your senators and ask them to vote against and publicly oppose the DISCLOSE Act.
Tell them that any vote to restrict free-speech will be considered a vote against gun owners.

Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) Launches Complete Lead Bullet Ban Campaign
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 24/Jul/2010 17:28
“As announced in a recent fundraising letter to its members, the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) will launch a “once-in-a-lifetime campaign†this summer to “ban all lead bullets everywhere in the United States.†Make no mistake, hunters and shooters are in the crosshairs of this extremist group.
…Hunting should not be an activity limited to the wealthy; every hunter is essential to sustaining our great American sporting heritage.Similarly, the recreational shooting that allows gun owners to hone skills and exercise their Second Amendment rights would be dramatically curtailed due to cost increases. The boxes of .22 long rifle, 9mm and .30-06 that families have shot for generations during trips to the range, the back 40 or at public shooting areas will be priced beyond reach for most.”
Does NRA = KKK?
It continues to astound me how many people simply disregard certain parts of the Constitution to these United States.
…National Review has learned that in 1996, Kagan apparently tied the NRA to the KKK — yes, the KKK — while debating the Clinton administration’s position on a bill.

Combat to Clays: A Woman’s Journey
From: Heide Kaser
When I left the FBI Academy after sixteen weeks of training in 1986, I was covered in
Heide Kaser
the most beautiful shades of purple, green, and yellow from my face to my collarbone, and down my bicep. The shotgun was too long, and my long neck and high cheekbones made it impossible to mount the gun properly to my shoulder while maintaining a proper sight picture (which is critical to defensive shotgun shooting). I lifted my face off the gun while shooting creating a horrible flinch, and all of the bad habits that ensue when shooting an ill-fitted gun followed suit. I was convinced that no one had ever hated a shotgun like I did in my bruised and frustrated condition.
Despite all odds, I was determined to accomplish two things:Â learn to shoot properly
without pain, and share with others (especially women), the training and tricks I had learned over time. Thirteen years later, armed with the knowledge that comes from first-hand experience and training, I was hired by the NRA’s Law Enforcement Activities Division. I had the opportunity to share what I had learned by training police officers and members of the military to become Law Enforcement Firearm Instructors in handgun, rifle, and yes, shotgun.
I set my sights on expanding my shotgun knowledge into other realms.I sought out top combat and competitive instructors, and made great progress after spending a week at Tac Pro Shooting Center in Texas with Bill Davidson, and practicing with the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Grand Master Greg Wodack (who manages the NRA Range in Fairfax, VA).
