Gun Sales Spike In Albuquerque After Governor’s Diktat
From Epoch Times:
“Today was the busiest day I’ve had in months,” Arnie Gallegos, owner of ABQ Guns in Albuquerque, told The Epoch Times. “I’ve been getting a lot of people who have never come into a gun shop before who are rightfully concerned about their freedoms.
NM Governor Backtracks After Outrage
From The Truth About Guns:
Grisham has lifted the carry ban in Bernalillo County and the city of Albuquerque, and “amended” the ban to now only apply to “parks or playgrounds where we know we’ve got high risk of kids and families.”
Ninth Circuit Says Anti-Marketing Law Violates First Amendment
From Bearing Arms:
A California law ostensibly aimed at restricting the marketing of firearms to minors infringes on the free speech rights of adults, according to a three-judge panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In its ruling handed down on Thursday morning, the panel vacated a lower court decision denying an injunction against the law’s enforcement and delivered a resounding win for both First and Second Amendment advocates.
Judge Blocks NM Governor’s Order
From The Truth About Guns:
US District Court Judge David Urias has issued a temporary restraining order blocking New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s “emergency public health order” that suspended Second Amendment carry rights for citizens in Bernalillo County and the city of Albuquerque.
California Goes All In On Gun Banning
From Guns.com:
The state Senate on Wednesday approved a measure to amend the U.S. Constitution to spread California gun control mandates coast to coast.
The Democrat-controlled body easily passed Senate Joint Resolution 7 in a 24-11 partisan roll call, sending it to the California Assembly for likely concurrence. The measure is the first legislative step to the adoption of a U.S. Constitutional amendment, calling for a rare Convention of States to study the proposal.
ATF Attempting To Stop Private Gun Sales
From Bearing Arms:
The Justice Department submitted a new blueprint today to define more clearly who must secure a federal firearms license for legal secondary market transactions. This new framework would redefine who is required to obtain a federal firearms license to sell guns legally. This license mandates that a dealer run background checks on buyers, among other things.
The proposal represents the latest effort by the Biden Administration to strengthen gun control via administrative rules. With the exception of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, Biden has not had Congressional support for his gun control agenda. So the President has sought to enact changes through federal rulemaking by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Texas Rallies Around Gun Dealer Targeted By ATF
From Ammoland:
A story published last month revealed that Harris was the latest home-based gun dealer to be targeted by the ATF. Harris and others say the ATF chose to harass and intimidate home-based dealers into voluntarily surrendering their FFLs because they know most lack the financial resources to mount a legal defense and fight back.
“The ATF didn’t follow their own protocols,” Harris said. “Now, they’re making up allegations.”
One of Harris’ longtime customers created a GiveSendGo account, which has raised nearly $20,000, although Harris will likely need much more.
NYT Wants To Blame Increased Shootings On Glock “Switches”
From The New York Times:
These makeshift machine guns — able to inflict indiscriminate carnage in seconds — are helping fuel the national epidemic of gun violence, making shootings increasingly lethal, creating added risks for bystanders and leaving survivors more grievously wounded, according to law enforcement authorities and medical workers.
Fifth Circuit Says Marijuana Users Are Equivalent To Alcohol Users During The Founding Era
From The Truth About Guns:
We must ask, in Bruen-style analogical reasoning, which is [defendant Patrick] Daniels more like: a categorically “insane” person? Or a repeat alcohol user? Given his periodic marihuana (sic) usage, Daniels is firmly in the latter camp. If and when Daniels uses marihuana, he may be comparable to a mentally ill individual whom the Founders would have disarmed. But while sober, he is like the repeat alcohol user in between periods of drunkenness. …
US Attorney Drops Attempt To Gag Journalist
From The Truth About Guns:
It seems AUSA Taylor’s motion for prior restraint…wasn’t well-received by the trial judge. At all.
In fact, as we just heard from one of the involved parties, the judge’s displeasure (probably combined with the fact that Crump was well-represented by very able counsel) was such that Taylor apparently thought better of her clearly unconstitutional, half-baked motion and withdrew it.
NDAA Sneaks In More Gun Prohibitions
From The Federalist:
Section 2(f) of the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 (18 U.S.C. 922 note; Public Law 100–649) is amended— (1) by striking ‘‘EFFECTIVE DATE AND SUNSET PROVISION’’ and all that follows through ‘‘This Act and the amendments’’ and inserting the following: ‘‘EFFECTIVE DATE.—This Act and the amendments’’; and (2) by striking paragraph (2).
The provision looks harmless enough at first glance. However, to fully understand how this paragraph further infringes the Second Amendment, one must understand what the 1988 Undetectable Firearms Act says, and why striking the effective date puts our rights in jeopardy.
Group Slanders Pro-Gun Youth As Racist
From The Truth About Guns:
“Furthermore,” the authors noted, “a young person’s access to guns, identification with gun culture and exposure to media relating to guns correlated with concerning beliefs like support for male supremacy, belief that the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to overthrow the government, higher levels of racial resentment and post-traumatic stress disorders.”
Colorado Law That Bans Gun Sales To Adults 18-20 Blocked
From Guns.com:
The 44-page temporary restraining order halts the effective date of Senate Bill 23-169. The bill was passed earlier this year by the Democrat-controlled Colorado General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Jared Polis, a Dem who was elected last year with the assistance of a $2.7 million campaign push by the Everytown anti-gun group.
The law increases the threshold age to legally purchase a firearm in the Centennial State from 18 to 21, with narrow exceptions for those who are active-duty military or certified law enforcement. The lawsuit, brought by two adults aged 18-20 allied with the pro-2A Rocky Mountain Gun Owners group, challenged the constitutionality of the measure, arguing it infringed on the right to keep and bear arms.
ATF Wants To Ban Private Sales
From Ammoland:
The Biden administration will use executive orders and the weaponized ATF to issue a rule limiting the private sales of firearms. According to the New York Times and verified by AmmoLand News sources, the new rule is expected to be unveiled by the end of the year.
President Joe Biden plans to announce that he is directing the ATF to close what Everytown calls the “private sales loophole” and the “digital loophole.” The “private sales loophole” is when an individual sells a firearm for profit but does not possess a Federal Firearm License (FFL).
Anti Gunners Shift Target From NRA To NSSF
From The Guardian:
Meet the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the gun industry’s conservative and aggressive lobbying group. Its range of activities is broad but always geared to zealously and single-mindedly preserving and extending the power of the gun industry.
