Anti-Gunners Never Satisfied
From Oregon Live:
A bill that sponsors say was drafted by Lake Oswego high school students would ban virtually all modern firearms, require background checks to purchase ammunition and limit those purchases to 20 rounds per month. Under Senate Bill 501, you would be required to get your sheriff’s permission to simply buy a gun and a gun dealer would have to wait at least two weeks before you could take possession of one of the very few firearms you would be allowed to have. You would only be allowed to purchase one handgun and one long gun a month. If you did not lock up a gun and it was stolen, you could possibly get more jail time than the person who stole it.

Bacon’s office.

It’s the broadest of more than a dozen bills dealing with guns submitted by lawmakers ahead of the 2019 Legislature, which convenes Jan. 22.Â
New Mexico Sheriffs To Ignore Gun Law
From CBS 7:
“You’re just taking guns out of law-abiding citizen’s hands,†Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton. “This is not going to affect the criminals out there. They’re going to be able to get guns and they do not follow the law.â€

California Law Requires Impossible Technology Effectively Banning Guns
From Reason:
A California statute requires that all new models of semi-automatic handguns stamp the handgun’s serial number in two locations on each round of ammunition. It is possible for a handgun’s firing pin to stamp the serial number onto the cartridge’s primer, which is a disk in the center of the back side of the ammunition. It not possible to stamp a serial number in two locations, as an erudite amicus brief from the Cato Institute explains. Nevertheless, California Attorney General Kamala Harris in May 2013 declared that all conditions for implementation by the statute had been met. Accordingly, all pistol models created since May 2013 are prohibited from commercial sale in California.
