Kickstarter Denies Company Building Gun Locks

When Dave Hellekson invented the Pumalock Interrupter, he hoped to fund his new venture by launching a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. While the popular website prohibits funding for “weapon accessories,†Helleckson’s quick-access gun lock is, by definition, not an accessory.
That’s why he was surprised when Kickstarter instantly rejected his campaign. Assuming the company’s bots had mistakenly flagged his product, he reached out to a customer service agent, who replied:
“We disallow any weapons accessories regardless of their intended use. As such, we would not be able to approve this project, per both Kickstarter’s rules and the rules of our payments processor.â€
Public Venue To Ban Gun Shows

Located just outside of San Fransisco, the historic venue is owned by the state Department of Food and Agriculture, and its board said this week they will discontinue all gun shows beginning Jan. 1, 2020. Cow Palace has been the subject of a number of failed bills in the state legislature over the years — brought by Bay Area lawmakers and backed by groups such as the Brady Campaign — to halt the otherwise popular shows.

Dick’s Settles Discrimination Lawsuit

Tyler Watson, who claimed that Dick’s violated the state’s discrimination statutes after they refused to sell him a rifle because he was not at least 21 years old, has reportedly reached an agreement to end a pending lawsuit. The terms of the settlement have not been released but the man had sought $1 million in damages.

California Sheriff Accused Of Discriminating Gun Policies

Since that tragedy almost three years ago, Riverside County has had a very steady flow of applications coming in. So much so that Sheriff Stan Sniff hired more employees to handle the CCW backlog, which sat at a two-year await, as of this past April.
A resident and five pro-gun groups have filed a lawsuit against Riverside County and Sheriff Sniff for his concealed carry license policy and practices that, the plaintiffs allege, are unconstitutional.

On Thursday, October 11, Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s Head of Cybersecurity Policy and Oscar Rodriguez, Product Manager, announced the company was shutting down 559 pages and 251 accounts “created to stir up political debate.” Allegedly, the targets were guilty of “coordinated inauthentic behavior” intended “to mislead others about who they are, and what they are doing.” The targeted pages and accounts included many pages, and their administrators, who have gained popularity by voicing ideas outside the mainstream—including skepticism of violent and intrusive police tactics and support for libertarian ideas.
Delaware Bans Semi-Autos For Hunting

the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control last week poured cold water on that idea by announcing that only manually-operated rifles may be used such as lever-action, bolt-action, pump-action, single shot and revolver rifles.
This is an admission that semi-auto rifles were being used to hunt, when they said they weren’t. It appears the goal now is to ban them from hunting and then use that as an excuse the ban them everywhere.
NYC Racial Bias In Gun Permits

Back in April, attorney Peter Howard Tilem, wrote on the New York Criminal Attorney Blog that in February of 2017, “during a hearing at the NYPD License Division offices before an NYPD hearing officer, a Detective assigned to the investigation section of the License Division testified under oath about using dismissed arrests as a basis to recommend revocation of an African-American license holder’s license.â€
Facebook Censors Gun Stories Based On Source Site

CRPC decided to share a Fox News piece detailing the research they conducted on their Facebook page. The organization wanted to boost their post as an ad so more people would see the study’s results. That’s when Facebook’s bias became clear.
One of the ads CRPC posted was a direct link to their website where people could download the study’s results. Facebook quickly approved the ad and all was fine.
When the organization went to post an ad linking to a Fox News article that detailed the study’s results, the ad was not approved.
YouTube Bans Defense Distributed Press Conference

The video in question, which has already been reposted by other accounts on YouTube, shows a press conference Wilson gave for a collection of reporters from major media outlets including the Associated Press, New York Times, Houston Chronicle, and others. The 46-minute video features Wilson explaining his reaction to a recent ruling by a federal judge forcing the State Department to abandon its settlement with Wilson, which would have allowed him to publish certain gun files, including his design for a gun made mostly from 3D-printed components, pending further legal action. After explaining that he would begin to sell the files online and sharing them over email or other secured means of transmission in response to the judge’s assertion that doing so would likely be legal, Wilson then took questions from the press for about 40 minutes.
Professor Creates “Second Amendment Zone”

The Washington Times reported that the as-yet-unidentified instructor was removed from the classroom after shaming those carrying a firearm and attempting to establish a “Second Amendment Zone†to segregate them after accusing carriers of “absurd, antisocial, and frightening behavior.â€
Court: Impossible Doesn’t Mean Unconstitutional

The majority of the court went further, though, and eliminated the possibility that its own rule could be applied to make the law inoperative in this or any other case: “Neither the text nor the purpose of the Act contemplates that a showing of impossibility can excuse compliance with the statutory requirement once the statute goes into effect,†adding that Section 3531 did “not authorize courts to independently carve out exceptions for impossibility†once the certification had been made.
