From Bearing Arms:
Most Republicans would support legislation banning assault-style weapons, a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll found Wednesday — a finding that contradicts President Donald Trump’s claim earlier the same day that there’s “no political appetite†for such restrictions.
The poll found that nearly 70 percent of all voters would back such a ban. Support for an assault-weapons ban was higher, at 86 percent, among Democrats, who have been pushing for new restrictions on the firearms in the wake of two mass shootings over the weekend.
Making New Laws Is Not The Answer
From Reason.com:
Adding its voice to the growing chorus demanding stronger laws targeting politically motivated violence, the FBI Agents Association called on Congress to make domestic terrorism a federal crime. The members of this chorus are, to various degrees, sincere, panicked, and self-serving, but they all have something in common: they’re advocating a very bad idea that’s bound to threaten liberty more than it hampers terrorists.

NY Post Overreacts After Shooting
From Bearing Arms:
The New York Post is blasting its support for a new ban on semi-automatic rifles on the front page of the paper today. Op-ed editor Sohab Ahmari tweeted out the news earlier this morning, calling the most commonly sold rifles in the country today “military-grade weapons.â€

Soldier Saved Kids In El Paso Shooting
From Task and Purpose:
“I didn’t even think. I just grabbed as many kids as I could and ran five stores down to the exit,” he said. “We got there and ran into a whole batch of police pointing their guns at us. I wasn’t focused on myself, and I wasn’t focused on my surroundings … I was just focused on those kids.”
NY Bans Teachers From Carrying Guns
From Guns.com:
School districts in the Empire State are now forbidden under a new law from authorizing teachers or other staff to carry firearms on campus.
The move came with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s signature on legislation this week forwarded to his desk by the state’s Democrat-controlled legislature. The bill, S.101A, stipulates that schools can’t issue an authorization to carry a gun to any teacher, administrator or other people not primarily employed as a school resource officer, law enforcement officer or security guard.

Another Reason Not To Appendix Carry

We’re told that the gun in question was a GLOCK 43. The holster was a GCode INCOG. The bullet penetrated the carrier’s groin in a through-and-through wound and he is reported to be in stable condition.
Not All Mass Murder Is Equal
From The Truth About Guns:
This op-ed from a week ago is even more relevant now. And the disparity isn’t just between shootings and other forms of mass murder. Look at the difference in media treatment of the Gilroy attack and the Brooklyn shooting that took place just one day before.
Homeowner Shot By Police Exonerated By Bodycam
From The Truth About Guns:
On June 14th, a Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy shot a “fiercely-patriotic†gun-owning homeowner in Simpsonville, South Carolina. For weeks, the department contended that the homeowner had jerked open his front door and pointed a handgun at the responding officer. But bodycam video that was just released shows a very different story.
