Daniel Defense Reverses Course on FixNICS

From Daniel Defense:

Message from Marty Daniel:

Friends,

First and foremost, let me say that I have heard your voices. I put out a statement on Friday, supporting Senate Bill S.2135 also known as the Fix NICS Act. I have received overwhelming feedback since putting out this statement, which has brought to my attention that there are significant and justified concerns regarding this bill. I can no longer in good conscience put my support behind S.2135.

I released the original statement because I believed it was the best option available at this time to hold back the continued attacks on the Second Amendment and the erosion of our rights. I was wrong.

Opinion: VA Lawmaker’s “Offensive” Speech on the Second Amendment

From The Organic Prepper:

You may not have ever heard of Nick Freitas before, but I have a feeling we’ll all be hearing a lot about him soon. At first glance, this may seem very political, very Republican vs. Democrat.

It’s about people who got so upset about historic facts that they had to leave the room instead of engaging in a discussion.

Tactics In The Modern Age

From War on the Rocks:

The historian David Edgerton authored a book entitled The Shock of the Old in which he argues that our society’s collective obsession with rapidly changing technology often blinds us to the older tools and techniques that actually drive most of what we observe around us. We believe this logic can be applied here. The diffusion of 100-year old combat techniques, coupled with readily available technology, may create serious threats that are not currently being considered.

Texas Sheriff Issues Statement in Wake of Shooting

From Breitbart:

With the recent tragedy in Florida, I wanted to make clear my policy on responding to an active shooter. All commissioned Deputies, if you respond to an active shooter you are expected to take immediate action. We do not stage and wait for SWAT, we do not take cover in a parking lot, and we do not wait for another agency. We go in and do our duty. We go in to engage and stop the shooter and save lives.

CEO of Dick’s Sports Is A Coward

CEO Ed Stack said that Dick’s Sports will never sell AR15 style rifles again, stop selling “high capacity” magazines and will refuse to sell guns to anyone under 21. The only reason Mr. Stack is doing this is to avoid a backlash/boycott by the anti-gun fascists. He is a coward who is refusing to sell legal guns to adults. This new policy is ageist pure and simple.

From the AP:

“We support and respect the Second Amendment, and we recognize and appreciate that the vast majority of gun owners in this country are responsible, law-abiding citizens,” Stack wrote in a letter Wednesday. “But we have to help solve the problem that’s in front of us. Gun violence is an epidemic that’s taking the lives of too many people, including the brightest hope for the future of America — our kids.”

Google Shopping Banning Terms With Gun

Note: I personally ran the same searches and didn’t have nearly as many of the searches return “no results” but I did get a few.

From The Federalist:

On Twitter early this morning, Ryan Fitz flagged something weird: Google Shopping returns no results for any search containing the word “gun.”

Are Age Limits For Guns Constitutional?

From The Washington Examiner:

Some federal courts have dealt with a different firearm age limit, upholding the 21-year-old age requirement for handgun sales by licensed dealers. That rule passed Congress in the Gun Control Act of 1968, long before the AR-15 became one of the nation’s most popular guns, and doesn’t ban young-adult handgun possession.

Michael Connelly, executive director of the U.S. Justice Foundation, a public interest law firm that supports gun-rights advocates, said, “I think an effort to ban people between 18 and 21 from purchasing AR-15s would be vulnerable to a Second Amendment challenge, particularly in light of the current makeup of the Supreme Court.”

NYT: Banks And Credit Cards Should Refuse Gun Sales

From The New York Times:

For the past year, chief executives have often talked about the new sense of moral responsibility that corporations have to help their communities and confront social challenges even when Washington won’t.

What if the finance industry — credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard and American Express; credit card processors like First Data; and banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo — were to effectively set new rules for the sales of guns in America?

It looks like The New York Times is now pro-big business, if that business is big enough to pressure retailers in to doing what the NYT wants. This is more proof that “liberals” are not liberal and that they will do whatever is necessary to get their way. If big government can’t do it then they will pressure big business to do it. If this succeeds it will set a dangerous precedent.

Before A Gun Debate Can Start Both Sides Must Read This

This was originally published after the Vegas shooting. The amount of regulations already on the books is astounding.

From The Hill:

After the Las Vegas murders, Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) urged Congress to “take a stand against gun violence by passing common-sense gun safety laws.” On Monday, after the mass murder in Texas, he wrote, “A simple idea: Anyone convicted of domestic abuse should see their rights under the 2nd Amendment severely curtailed.” On Tuesday, Sen. Jeff Flake(R-Ariz.) announced that he and Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) are writing a bill “to prevent anyone convicted of domestic violence — be it in criminal or military court — from buying a gun.

In the spirit of these proposals, here are some ideas for tough federal gun laws — most of which should have been enacted years ago.
