Lockheed Using Gravity to Spot ‘Subterranean Threats’

Army Tests ‘HULC’ Super-Strength Gear
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 16/Jul/2010 17:23
“The Army is moving one small step closer to giving its troops super-strength. Lockheed’s Human Universal Load Carrier exoskeleton is headed to the Army’s Natick Soldier Systems Center for biomechanical testing — and maybe even field trials, eventually… It uses robotic leg braces to augment troops’ muscles, giving them the ability to carry loads of up to 200 pounds without tuckering out.”

3-Gun is loads of fun and can be good training if you want to play the game that way. This short video of the DPMS Tri-Gun Challenge captures the essence pretty well.
Jobless in Cuba? Communism faces the unthinkable
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News, Opinion on 16/Jul/2010 17:15
“Here, nearly everyone works for the state and official unemployment is minuscule, but pay is so low that Cubans like to joke that “the state pretends to pay us and we pretend to work.”
In his nationally televised speech in April, Castro … had harsh words for those who do little to deserve their salaries.
“Without people feeling the need to work to make a living, sheltered by state regulations that are excessively paternalistic and irrational, we will never stimulate a love for work,” he said.
… low pay means low productivity. On Obispo street, a state-run cafeteria sells heavily subsidized soft ice cream and pork sandwiches for the equivalent of a few American pennies — meaning wages and tips are so tiny that the staff is completely indifferent toward customers.
The state employs 95 percent of the official work force. Unemployment last year was 1.7 percent and hasn’t risen above 3 percent in eight years — but that ignores thousands of Cubans who aren’t looking for jobs that pay monthly salaries worth only $20 a month on average.”

The Other US Border Dilemma
Posted by Gary in Threat Watch on 15/Jul/2010 09:25
From: IDGA
… U.S.’s often overlooked northern border has some very serious challenges of its own and there are real and very serious criminal and terrorist threats along its long frontier. The U.S. Canada border has been called the worlds friendliest and for a long time many Americans viewed crossing the border into Canada on par with crossing state lines. It has commonly been seen as very easy to cross, low hassle, and having minimal security presence even at checkpoints.
For those very same reasons this same border has been becoming increasingly attractive to criminals and terrorists that see great opportunity for smuggling and low chance of being apprehended. The U.S. Canada border is massive in terms of mileage and greater in size than the southwest Mexican border that is very large in its own right.

“Major James Joshua Bowman, 34, from Salisbury, Wilts, was one of three soldiers from the 1st Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles murdered on Tuesday by Taleb Hossein at the base they shared in Helmand province.
Hossein, 23, shot dead Maj Bowman in Patrol Base 3 in Nahr-e Saraj district, near Helmand’s capital, Lashkar Gah, in southern Afghanistan.
The Afghan soldier also fired a rocket-propelled grenade into the base’s command centre, killing Lt Neal Turkington, 26, from Craigavon, Northern Ireland, and Cpl Arjun Purja Pun, from Nepal, and wounding four other UK soldiers.
The attack was the second time in eight months that members of Afghanistan’s security forces have turned on UK troops.
Five British soldiers were killed and six injured when an Afghan policeman opened fire on them at a secure checkpoint in Nad-e-Ali in Helmand in November.”
Utah: List Of Accused Illegal Aliens mailed to Utah media, law enforcement, and the state House and Senate
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 14/Jul/2010 17:59
“An anonymously created list of 1300 people accused of being illegal aliens arrived by U.S. mail Monday at Utah media outlets, law enforcement agencies, and the state House and Senate.
The list, comprised almost solely of Hispanic names, contained Social Security numbers, birth dates and contact information for each person along with their workplaces, their children’s names and even the due dates of pregnant women.
State Representative Steven Sandstrom, R-Orem, who is writing Utah’s own version of Arizona SB 1070, says the approach is misguided and unlawful .”I think it’s a wrong approach,” Sandstrom told the Salt Lake Tribune. “It sends the wrong message, and it doesn’t follow the rule of law with the bill that I’m writing.”
Ron Mortensen, of the Utah Coalition On Illegal Immigration, a group that has historically been very vocal against illegal immigrants, also denied any involvement in creating the list, calling it, “an inappropriate action. It’s never right to release government documents, if that’s what this is.”

Operation Chihuahua
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 13/Jul/2010 23:40
“Coordinated Operation Chihuahua or formerly known as Joint Operation Chihuahua is a Military and Federal Police operation started in 2008 by the Mexican Army and PolicÃa Federal Preventiva. The objective is to “besiege” Ciudad Juárez to concentrate forces and saturate the area to confront the three cartels already operating in the city.
Ciudad Juárez is known to be one of the most dangerous cities in the Americas. In the year 2007 more than 100 police officers were killed in Juárez in attacks blamed on organized crime.
The violence generated by the war of the drug cartels for control of drug routes translated into some 6,000 killings in 2008.”

81-year-old man charged with attempted murder for shooting thief – an illegal immigrant thief
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Law, News on 13/Jul/2010 17:24
“The Robert Wallace case has all the trademarks of a justice-gone-awry tale.
When Wallace, an 81-year-old Wheat Ridge resident, saw two men trying to steal his trailer this past February, he opened fire, hitting one of the men in the head.
But the person busted in the shooting’s immediate aftermath was Wallace, for attempted murder, while the two suspects in the theft attempt remained free until last week.
The contrast between an elderly man defending his property, Gran Torino-style, against the actions of an illegal alien — and then being prosecuted for his actions — could hardly be more stark.”

Why does Socialism Fail?
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Opinion on 13/Jul/2010 01:26
Socialism as an economic utility does not fail because of the rewards given to the masses for less work, effort, talent or ability.
Socialism fails because it refuses to accept the possibility of failure.
It does not punish the lazy or inept shiftless drones who refuse to act for their own benefit. Instead, it mandates all are equal legally (good) and thus equal monetarily, intellectually (bad).
The entire purpose of government and any economic system is to enable them to live as peaceably and fruitful as possible while being just.
It cannot be just to mandate tribute for the sake of someone else and then use force to defend this statute. A society cannot be considered peaceful if it’s citizens are under the constant threat of force.
Socialism fails not because it gives – it fails because it takes.
It will not matter how many nations submit to a socialized economic model, none of this can stop laziness and lethargy.
You want a brighter, leaner, more capable America? Stop taking from the deserving and giving to the undeserving.
Start demanding that people, like every other fucking organism on the planet, earn their happiness, their food, their livelihood.
