“The bloody battles between Los Zetas and the Cartel del Golfo (CDG) for control of the Tamaulipas plazas in la Frontera Chica (Reynosa, Miguel Aleman, Camargo and Guerrero) and Nuevo Laredo are now spreading west to the Piedras Negras, Coahuila area.
All these cities and towns face the Rio Grande and South Texas and together with the Ciudad Juarez-El Paso plaza are major conduits for the trafficking of drugs and humans north into the Mid-Western and East Coast areas of the U.S..”

Mexico Mass Grave Linked to Drug Gangs

“At least 51 bodies have been discovered in nine unmarked graves in northern Mexico, officials say, in one of the more grisly recent turns in the country’s rampaging violence linked to drug gangs.
Many of the victims, found earlier in the week in a series of graves located in a suburb of Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo Leon state, had their hands bound and showed signs of torture, investigators said.
Nuevo Leon, which borders Texas, has seen a spike in drug violence this year due to an intensifying rivalry between former partners: the Gulf cartel and a group know as the Zetas.
It is the second major finding this year of bodies deposited in mass graves, allegedly by members of Mexico’s warring drug cartels, after the remains of 55 people were exhumed in June in the southern state of Guerrero.”

Four Bodies Found in Nuevo Laredo

“The bodies of four men, handcuffed and tortured, appeared on Sunday morning in front of the plaza in Nuevo Laredo, where the perpetrators of the crime also left a warning for the public, a police source said.
Very early in the day, the office of public safety, received a “report of four bodies that were left on la plaza,” said an official of the state agency.
The bodies were left along with a dead dog and cat in front of the “plaza de toros” bullring in Nuevo Laredo, which has a population of about 400,000 people and it’s the largest commercial frontier between Mexico and the United States.
“I was the one who threw the grenade into the sports complex, I was paid $500 (dollars),” read the message written on a cardboard on one of the victims, while the other three men killed where identified as the father, brother and brother-in-law of the former.
“The Nuevo Laredo people know who helps them, this is what is going to happen to all and their family,” said the written message about the victims who had not yet been identified.
On Wednesday Nuevo Laredo lived a day of fear from shootouts between gunmen and roadblocks that even left people trapped in cinemas and shops that were suddenly closed. Mexican soldiers fought late-night gunbattles with gangs who forced citizens from their cars and used the vehicles to block streets in a city across the border from Texas.The Nuevo Laredo city government posted messages on Facebook warning citizens to stay indoors as the battles erupted at several intersections Wednesday night. Gangs used stolen cars and buses to block several main avenues in the city across from Laredo, Texas. Several residents called local newspapers to report thefts. “For your security, stay in your homes until the alert has passed,” the city government wrote on Facebook”

Mexico, On The Brink Of Apocalypse?

“In an interview by Carmen Aristegui, the security specialist Edgardo Buscaglia says that “The violence is like a perfect storm in which many factors are interacting to lead Mexico into a civil war scenarioâ€
Faced with the violent events this week in various parts of the country and how they occurred, some commentators caution that we face a new escalation of violence in Mexico: the stage of terrorism.
Where once the United States had been particularly attentive to what was happening in Ciudad Juarez, now it is also deeply concerned about what is happening in Nuevo Laredo.
Nuevo Laredo happens to be the largest inland port for commerce between Mexico and the U.S. where at least 12,000 tractor trailers full of industrial, agricultural and consumer goods pass daily. A permanent state of chaos in Nuevo Laredo would seriously impact trade between both nations.
Today it is assumed that the Mexican government is unable to control the violence that affects it’s innocent citizens. And if this is happening on the border with the U.S. then the national security of the U.S is also affected.”

… U.S.’s often overlooked northern border has some very serious challenges of its own and there are real and very serious criminal and terrorist threats along its long frontier. The U.S. Canada border has been called the worlds friendliest and for a long time many Americans viewed crossing the border into Canada on par with crossing state lines. It has commonly been seen as very easy to cross, low hassle, and having minimal security presence even at checkpoints.
For those very same reasons this same border has been becoming increasingly attractive to criminals and terrorists that see great opportunity for smuggling and low chance of being apprehended. The U.S. Canada border is massive in terms of mileage and greater in size than the southwest Mexican border that is very large in its own right.
Justice Dept. Sues Arizona Over Its Immigration Law

Hezbollah using Mexican nationals to establish a network in South America

“Mexico foiled an attempt by Hezbollah to establish a network in South America, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Hezbollah operatives employed Mexican nationals with family ties to Lebanon to set up the network, designed to target Israel and the West, the Al-Seyassah daily said.
Mexican police mounted a surveillance operation on the group’s leader, Jameel Nasr, who traveled frequently to Lebanon to receive information and instructions from Hezbollah commanders there.
Nasr was living in Tijuana, Mexico at the time of his arrest, the report said.
The report follows warnings from the United States that Hezbollah and its backer Iran are stepping up operations in the region.”

The bodies of four men were found hanging off bridges early Sunday in Chihuahua city, the capital of the like-named state.”

Arizona: trouble’s been brewing for a long time

There have been many voices howling in objection to Arizona’s tough stance on illegal immigrants.
Wherever you stand on the subject keep this in mind: Arizona citizens have been frustrated, concerned and alarmed about this problem of illegal immigrants for a long time. For example, this story from March of this year:
“Krentz’s body, and his badly injured dog, were discovered shortly before midnight Saturday by a helicopter search crew after he failed to show up at a prearranged meeting with his brother. No suspect has been identified, but footprints tracked by Border Patrol agents, deputies and Arizona Department of Corrections dog chase teams led 20 miles south to the Mexican border.
While many ranchers in Arizona grew furious about property damage and trash left behind by illegal immigrants who crossed through the state’s southeast corner on the way north, Krentz, several people said, was still willing to help those in need.
“He’s a kind and gentle man. He’s the last person who would ever be confrontational,” Cowan said. “If someone needed help, he would go help them. All he wanted was to raise his family and raise his livestock and have a peaceful life.”

For use in Mexico or coming over the border into Texas?

These are photos of a Zetas camp (a Mexican drug cartel w/ Guatemalan ties) that was found near Higueras, Nuevo Laredo, Mexico - a little over 100 miles away from Laredo, TX.
At least 25 suspects managed to get away.
They found 12 trucks/SUVs under a shaded canopy. The vehicles contained military & police issue accessories. Its estimated that they found around 200 rifles, and 30 pistols. They also found grenade and rocket launchers. There were over 300 magazines and uniforms. They also found a box of 60 grenades.
And to answer one criticism: no Nancy and Diane, most of these guns did not come from gun shows in the American Southwest. You can’t buy selective fire M4s with 14.5 inch barrels, RPG-7s, and 40mm grenades at gun shows. More about the M4s: If those had actually been smuggled commercial M4geries from the States, then they’d be in umpteen different configurations and have 16-inch barrels. Notice how those rows of M4s all look identical? Obviously, those were built to Ejército Méxicano contract specs. Now I suppose those two Barrett .50 rifles might have been smuggled from the States. They aren’t in the TO&Es of most Mexican Army units, but they are used by their Special Forces.

Rape Trees on the Southern Border?

The violence in Mexico is out of control and undeniably headed north. From beheadings to kidnappings, there seems to be no limit to what the cartels are willing to do to assert their dominance. They deal not only in drugs, but also in humans. The majority of the coyotes who help illegal immigrants cross the border are affiliated with these Mexican cartels.
Although many politicians would like to believe that the violence will stay to the south of the border, the reality is that it has already begun to affect South Western states. The revelation that Phoenix is now the “kidnapping capital” of the United States only affirms what many residents already knew.
A new method of marking territory has crossed over into the United States. “Rape trees” are popping up in Southern Arizona and their significance is horrific and disgusting. These “rape trees” are places where cartel members and coyotes rape female border crossers and hang their clothes, specifically undergarments, to mark their conquest and territory.
Sen. Jonathan Paton (R-Tucson), recently invited officials to describe the problems being faced in his home state to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which he chairs. Paton said violence along the border has escalated dramatically in the past year, “We want to go after these crimes,” he insisted, “It’s an unbelievable situation, and we can’t allow that to go on in this country.”
