Seattle PD Gun Buy Back Morphs Into Gun Show
From DCXposed:
Police stood in awe as gun enthusiasts and collectors waved wads of cash for the guns being held by those standing in line for the buyback program.
John Diaz, Seattles Police Chief, wasn’t pleased with the turn of events stating “I’d prefer they wouldn’t sell them,†but admitted it’s perfectly legal for private individuals to buy and sell guns, FOR NOW. Mayor Mike McGinn said at a news conference the private transactions are a loophole that needs to be closed. “There’s no background checks, and some (guns) could be exchanged on the streets that shouldn’t be in circulation.â€
All Colorado Sheriffs Opppse New Gun Restrictions
From Trinidad Times:
The CSOC position paper said it would be wrong to enact major gun-control legislation while the country is still grieving over the recent tragedies. The paper’s conclusion reads: “CSOC welcomes open, honest and deliberative dialogue on all public safety issues. At the same time, we urge our state elected officials not to make decisions during this grieving period because it would likely lead to policies that are unenforceable and possibly unconstitutional, while punishing law abiding citizens and doing nothing to reduce violent crime.â€

From the Daily Beast:
All of us have had dealings with the State, and have found, to our chagrin, or, indeed, terror, that we were not dealing with well-meaning public servants or even with ideologues but with overworked, harried bureaucrats. These, as all bureaucrats, obtain and hold their jobs by complying with directions and suppressing the desire to employ initiative, compassion, or indeed, common sense. They are paid to follow orders.
A Time When Activism Is Essential
From the Volokh Consipiracy:
The Dick Act also defines the ‘‘unorganized militia.’’ The unorganized militia is all able-bodied men between 17 and 44 years of age who are United States citizens (or ‘‘have made a declaration of intention to become
citizens’’), and who do not belong to the organized militia.

From CNS News:
The letter to the President states (emphasis added): “We, like you swore a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation.”
“[P]lease remember the Founders of this great nation created the Constitution, and its accompanying Bill of Rights, in an effort to protect citizens from all forms of tyrannical subjugation.”

Police Have No Duty To Protect You
Posted by Brian in Law, Threat Watch on 18/Jan/2013 08:09
The courts have stated on several occasions that the police do not have duty to protect you. The result of those cases is the fact that each individual is responsible for his/her life and no one else. The most famous case is Warren v District of Columbia.
Gun Owners of America discusses the case here.
Here is a more in-depth article on Warren and other cases including a deeper discussion of self defense.
Here is a Cato Institute Policy Report on self defense.
