Minorities Worried Oregon Gun Restriction Will Handicap Their Ability To Buy Firearms
From OPB.org:
But Measure 114 lacks criteria clearly defining what disqualifies applicants, details on what makes someone a threat and what data can be used by law enforcement in making that decision. That’s a problem for activists who have critiqued law enforcement, particularly in the racial justice protests that took place over the past two years.
“I just feel like if I was to go online and say like the police are terrorists or something … [the police] would be like, ‘Well, you seem like you might not be fit for this community to be armed,’ ” says Mia Rose, a trans person of color and former licensed firearms dealer. “If they were to get that information that you got snatched up off the street [arrested during the Portland protests prompted by the killing of George Floyd in 2020], I would assume that the law would say they could deny your purchase, or deny your right to have a permit.”
If only the gun rights groups had warned the people about possible government overreach.
Oregon Gun Control On Hold
From The Truth About Guns:
Moments ago, a judge in Oregon blocked enforcement of Oregon’s Ballot Measure 114. Judge Richard Raschio placed a temporary restraining order on the law which would have taken effect Thursday, December 8th. Guns Owners of America and the GOA Foundation are the organizations behind this along with Gliff Asmussen and Joseph Arnold.
Oregon AG Wants To Delay Gun Restriction Law Due To Current Chaos At Gun Stores
From Bearing Arms:
In a letter to U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, who is hearing the lawsuits seeking to block 114 from becoming law, Attorney General Rosenblum said that the state will seek a postponement of the permit requirement to give law enforcement officers more time to implement the new law.
“Postponing the permit requirement by approximately two months should give Oregon law enforcement time to have a fully functional permitting system in place. If Judge Immergut agrees to the postponement, then starting in February anyone who purchases a gun in Oregon will be required to have a permit,” Rosenblum said.
Oregon Measure 114 Causes Spike In Gun Sales
From Bearing Arms:
As we’ve been reporting for the past few weeks, the narrow passage of Measure 114 (approved by just 50.7% of voters) has led to a huge spike in the number of gun sales. At the moment, the Oregon State Police are so backlogged with background check requests on firearm transfers that they’re automatically delaying all new requests, and the Oregon Capital Chronicle reports that it could take months to get through the checks that have already been submitted.
Biden Says The Truth, Wants To Ban All Semi-Auto Guns
The Democrats have lied for decades about their true goal to ban all guns.
From Fox News:
“The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick,” Biden said. “Just sick. It has no socially redeeming value. Zero. None. Not a single solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers.”
Concealed Carry Expo Shows The Changing Demographics of Gun Owners
From The Federalist:
According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, 2020’s record-breaking surge in new gun ownership was more than just a spike. An NSSF survey of gun retailers found that 40 percent of Americans making firearm purchases were buying one for the first time, and of those first-time buyers, 40 percent were women. Gun stores also found that 58 percent of firearm purchases were by black men and women, “the largest increase of any demographic group.”
Corporate Press Feigns Concern For Officer Safety After Anti Police Tirades In 2020
As the tide moves in the direction of more guns on the streets and fewer regulations, police chiefs are the first to point out that this trend makes their jobs more difficult and puts officers at a higher risk of injury or death. That danger extends to everyone in the community — children, the elderly and passersby on the street.
FBI Hiding The Risk Of Murder
From Ammoland:
According to the Just Facts report, “In 2021, the year Joe Biden became president, the FBI began making it far more difficult to access national estimates of murders and other crimes. The agency did this by dramatically changing the manner in which it reports such data.”
Alabama Expands Gun Rights
From WBRC:
Gun owners will soon be able to carry a firearm into Alabama state parks without written permission.
The change in rules about firearms in parks will happen around the same time the new constitutional carry law goes into effect next year.
History Of Democide: Commies Killed The Most
From Reason:
During the 20th century, governments murdered over 200 million people. This figure excludes battle deaths from wars. The tables below are from my just-published article Guns Kill People, and Tyrants With Gun Monopolies Kill the Most, 25 Gonzaga Journal of International Law 29 (2021). The data cover 1900 to 1987 and are mainly based on the scholarship of the late University of Hawaii political science professor Rudolph J. Rummel. The few instances in which different figures are used are explained in my article.
38 Straight Months Of Over 1 Million Gun Sales
From Bearing Arms:
Americans might not be buying guns at the dizzying pace we saw throughout much of 2020 and 2021, but for the 38th straight month gun sales topped 1-million, according to the latest figures from the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
Armed Citizen Stops Mass Murderer
The attacker, Jacob Roberts, raised his head and looked around the mall. He saw Meli with his gun pointed at him. Looking down the barrel of a gun, the attacker ducked and ran. He stopped working to clear the jam in his rifle and retreated. The attacker opened a service door and moved down one of the utility hallways that run behind the stores. He then went down a stairway and passed a store clerk carrying boxes and heading the other way. Roberts then took his own life by shooting himself with his rifle.
