Woman Faces Fine Or 90 Days In Jail For Protesting
From Times of San Diego:
Naomi Israel, 27, on Wednesday publicly confirmed she was an organizer — and the woman facing penalties for the downtown protest that drew hundreds.
Mark Meuser, an attorney with The Dhillon Law Group, told Times of San Diego in a phone interview that his group — led by Republican activist Harmeet Dhillon — would represent Israel over the constitutional issues he said were being violated and fend off any criminal charges that might be filed against her.
Media Claims Protests Are “Fake”
From Kansas City Star:
The Lansing protest was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition and Michigan Freedom Fund, which has links to the family of Education Secretary Besty DeVos. Common Cause and other liberal groups say Meckler and Citizens for Self-Governance have long been aligned with conservative groups tied to Charles and the late David Koch, but Meckler laughs at the notion his group receives Koch money.
“If you know anybody with the Kochs and can arrange for financing, I’d be happy to talk, but it never happens,†he said.
Facebook Banning Protest Events
From The Independent:
Facebook has said it will allow groups on its platform to organise protests against social distancing, so long as the protesters plan to abide by social distancing rules.
Protests have sprung up across the US in recent days in defiance of lockdown measures aimed at containing the spread of the coronavirus. Many of the demonstrations have been organised through Facebook groups, some of which have in excess of 70,000 members.
Protests In North Carolina
From Winston-Salem Journal:
Tuesday’s ReOpenNC protest was the second of its kind. The first, held last week, attracted a crowd of perhaps 100, a Raleigh city cop offered by way of an unofficial estimate.
This one grew exponentially, its message spread like a contagion via social media .
Similar protests and rallies, no doubt egged on by the same online voices, have attracted attention in such states as Michigan and Pennsylvania while others — Florida, Georgia and South Carolina,we’re looking at you — rush headlong to reopen.
Mini Tyrants Taking Advantage Of Emergency
From The Sacramento Bee:
“In the interest of public safety and the health of all Californians during the COVID-19 pandemic, effective immediately the California Highway Patrol will deny any permit requests for events or activities at all state facilities, to include the State Capitol, until public health officials have determined it is safe to gather again,†the CHP said.
Gun Banners Want To Restrict Rifles Like Machine Guns
From The New Republic:
Could shooting ranges be the future of Bushmasters, of SKS rifles and AR-15s and AR-10s? It seems the thought experiment we need in Second Amendment debates, where pro-gun advocates warn that federal ownership registries and licensing are the sine qua non of government tyranny. Yet the United States has successfully depleted the supply of machine guns, as well as the ease and attractiveness of their use by criminals, with exactly these measures: a gun database and a thoroughgoing application process. (That said, the left should be as wary as libertarians—perhaps more so these days—of the potential risks that gun registries run as a tool of discrimination and harassment; one need not sympathize, as some on the gun right do, with David Koresh and the Branch Davidians to acknowledge that the ATF has abused its oversight powers before.)
Why Are People Buying Guns
From Bearing Arms:
“Simply put: I wanted peace of mind when it comes to the safety of my family,†Eaton said.
Eaton’s pistol was one of 2.3 million firearms to fly off the shelves in March, the single busiest month for gun sales ever. The Washington Free Beacon spoke to half a dozen new gun owners who purchased a total of six handguns and two shotguns. All of the new gun owners provided proof of purchase, though some asked not to have their last names published because of potential career backlash.
Gun Ownership And Enforcing Laws Drives Down Crime
From The Truth About Guns:
The first hearing, held on April 7, began with Amy Blasher, the Unit Chief of the FBI’s Crime Statistic Management Unit. She provided an overview of the downward trend in violent crime since 2009 and summarized the known factors that contribute to levels of crime as “population density, youth concentration, economic conditions, cultural, educational, recreational factors, family conditions, climate, effective strength of law enforcement agencies and citizens’ attitude towards crime and reporting to law enforcement.â€
It comes as no surprise to the firearm and ammunition industry that gun ownership, the number of firearms owned by law-abiding Americans or the number of federally licensed firearm retailers were not among the factors listed, despite popular claims by gun control groups.
Rights Not Used Will Be Taken Away
From Complete Colorado:
The more people who own firearms, the harder it is to pass anti-gun laws.  Reducing the number of people who possess firearms helps with step one (reduce production), and is necessary in the long run for steps two and three.
Anti-gun Policies Result In Gun Purchase Spikes
From Ammoland:
The fact is the call for gun bans and confiscations drive up sales. It drives people to buy a gun before it is banned or prohibited. In my home country of Ventura, California, a survey of new gun owners shows that the REAL fear that is driving panic buying was ignited by the County’s attempt to close gun shores. After all, you cannot shoot a virus. 10’s of thousand new gun owners, again thank you gun-grabbing lefties! Lastly, closing gun stores is part of the liberal playbook to end gun ownership.
Dems Using Covid Emergency To Force New Gun Restrictions
From Ammoland:
As a condition of passing the COVID-19 Phase 4 legislative relief package, Pelosi and Schumer are preparing to demand their liberal wish-list.
This list could include many items that would be of concern to conservative constitutionalists, generally. But of specific concern to gun owners is the gun control that Pelosi could try to sneak into a COVID-19 relief package — things like Red Flag gun confiscation orders, and more. Our federal lobbyists have been communicating with Senate Republican offices, and right now, it’s too early to tell where the anti-gun Democrat leadership is going to make their big push. Yes, there are anti-gun congressmen who are demanding that Red Flag gun confiscation orders be added to the relief bill. And so Republican Senators need to hear that this would be a non-starter.
Gun Controllers Upset When Faced With Their Own Policies
From RedState:
Not only are many liberals suddenly learning to love their Second Amendment rights, many of them are finding out that the gun control narrative in this country — as repeated loudly and often by Hollywood and the mainstream media — is a complete lie.
Anti-Gunners Shocked They Can’t Walk Out With A Gun The Same Day
From Bearing Arms:
I was chatting with a friend of mine recently and the topic of gun sales came up. My friend’s father owns a gun range near me and she said he’s seen a huge amount of liberals coming in to purchase weapons in recent weeks.
How does he know they’re liberals?
“They’re shocked to discover they can’t just walk out of the store with a gun.â€
