Obama Bans First Navy Jack From Navy Uniforms
From The Daily Caller:
The email, dated October 22, reads:
ALL:
WARCOM and GROUP TWO/ONE have pushed out the uniform policy for NWU III and any patches worn on the sleeve.
All personnel are only authorized to wear the matching “AOR†American Flag patch on the right shoulder.  You are no longer authorized to wear the “Don’t Tread On Me†patch.
Again the only patch authorized for wear is the American flag on the right shoulder. Please pass the word to all
Thanks

I think it is obvious that because the First Navy Jack has the phrase “Don’t Tread On Me” which is used by those politically opposed to the administration, the administration has decided to ban the First Navy Jack from uniforms. Never mind the fact that as of Sept. 11, 2002 all Navy ships are to fly the First Navy Jack. Where is the directive to reverse that decision? And what about soldiers, seamen or marines who have the phrase tattooed on their body?

Is Obama Getting Rid of Generals?
From WorldNetDaily:
“Over the past three years, it is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause,†Boykin said.
“I believe there is a purging of the military,†he said. “The problem is worse than we have ever seen.â€
…Boykin said the future of the military is becoming more and more of concern, since colonels who would be generals also are being relieved of duty, if they show that they’re not going to support Obama’s agenda, which critics have described as socialist.
DOJ Argues Treaties Trump Constitution
From The Washington Examiner:
Justice Department attorneys are advancing an argument at the Supreme Court that could allow the government to invoke international treaties as a legal basis for policies such as gun control that conflict with the U.S. Constitution, according to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
San Francisco To Confiscate/Ban Magazines That Hold 10+ Rounds
From SF Gate:
Under the new regulations, people already possessing a large-capacity magazine will have 90 days to turn it in to police. The proposal exempts members of law enforcement and armored car personnel, among others. Violations of the ban would be punishable as a misdemeanor.
Mexico’s Zetas Are Not Finished Yet
Posted by Brian in Opinion, Threat Watch on 2/Nov/2013 08:08
“Mexico’s Zetas Are Not Finished Yet is republished with permission of Stratfor.”
By Scott Stewart and Tristan Reed
During the question-and-answer portion of our quarterly Mexico Security Monitor webinar, we were asked a question pertaining to the current status of Los Zetas. The question was something to the effect of: “Some Mexican media outlets and analysts claim that Los Zetas have been dismantled as an organization and are now little more than a ‘ragtag operation.’ Why do you disagree with that assessment?”
This question apparently came in response to our quarterly cartel report (an abbreviated version is available here), in which we wrote that despite the leadership losses suffered by Los Zetas, including the arrest of their leader, Miguel “Z-40” Trevino Morales, there were no signs that other leaders were challenging the current leader and Miguel’s brother, Omar Trevino Morales. We also wrote that we believed Los Zetas have maintained their operational capabilities in terms of drug smuggling and other criminal activity, and that they have retained the ability to defend their operations and to continue conducting offensive operations deep in their rivals’ territory. Chinese Submarine Capabilities
Posted by Brian in News, Threat Watch on 1/Nov/2013 16:15
From The Washington Times:
The article features 30 photos and graphics detailing, among other things, damage projections for Seattle and Los Angeles after being hit by Chinese nuclear warheads and the deadly radiation that would spread all the way to Chicago.
China’s sub fleet is reportedly the world’s second-largest, with about 70 vessels. About 10 are nuclear-powered, and four or more of those are nuclear ballistic submarines capable of launching missiles.
Gun Control Fails To Prevent LAX Shooting
From Breitbart News:
All vehicle and pedestrian traffic into and out of the airport has been limited. LAPD is doing a sweep of the arrival area of Terminal 3. One witness, Robert Perez, said that TSA agents shouted that a man had a gun in the terminal. “I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground,†Perez said. Another witness reported a dozen shots fired. A Federal Aviation Authority map already shows flight slowdowns thanks to the incident; the FAA was put on a ground hold.

From The Washington Times:
In what may have been the first suicide attack in Tunisia, hotel security guards stopped the bomber from entering the Riadh Palm hotel in Sousse, a city 90 miles (150 kilometers) south of the capital, Tunis, then chased him to a beach where he blew himself up, the Interior Ministry said.

U.S. Foreign Policy from the Founders’ Perspective
“U.S. Foreign Policy from the Founders’ Perspective is republished with permission of Stratfor.”
By George Friedman
Last week I discussed how the Founding Fathers might view the American debt crisis and the government shutdown. This week I thought it would be useful to consider how the founders might view foreign policy. I argued that on domestic policy they had clear principles, but unlike their ideology, those principles were never mechanistic or inflexible. For them, principles dictated that a gentleman pays his debts and does not casually increase his debts, the constitutional provision that debt is sometimes necessary notwithstanding. They feared excessive debt and abhorred nonpayment, but their principles were never completely rigid.
Whenever there is a discussion of the guidelines laid down by the founders for American foreign policy, Thomas Jefferson’s admonition to avoid foreign entanglements and alliances is seen as the founding principle. That seems reasonable to me inasmuch as George Washington expressed a similar sentiment. So while there were some who favored France over Britain during the French Revolutionary Wars, the main thrust of American foreign policy was neutrality. The question is: How does this principle guide the United States now? Read the rest of this entry »
